Marb, Crawf, Ariza, Sweetney, Kurt (to slow the game down)
Marb, Ariza, Rose, Mo, TT (scoring/zone buster/ inside out)
Marb, Crawf, Rose, JYD, Mo (speed/defense/and rebounding)

If we had a shot blocker, we would be even better...

Not much time has passed since the trades, so these stats might be a bit skewed. But notice that all of NY's top 5 five man units have Mo T. Surprisingly, they all have Penny also. 4 of the 5 have Ariza.

Pretty good info. I hope that all the Mo haters have a chance to read it...

oops, please disregard that last post. Egregious mistake on my part. Those were NY's top 5 units, given that Mo T was one of the players on the floor. Here are NY's top 5 five man units overall for the season:

one of the best sites on the net. At one point we were -17 when Marbury was out of the game. Since Crawford has been getting most of the backup PG time this shows some improvement.

The plan now should be to draft an impact 3, try to sign an athletic 5 like Gadzurich or Hunter and go from there. Somehow get these guys playing D and working on the glass and moving the ball. No more one on one play. It kills the ball movement and means we dont get any offensive boards.

a lineup consisting of Crawford at SG isn't slowing anyone down. Especially since Marbury is nothing special defensively

We don't have a better option right now, so we have to go with what we have...I could tolerate Crawf if he was a consistant shooter, but he is not..At least we know that Marb is able to do other things when he is off defensively....Crawf does nothing but jackup crazy shots...Who ever told him that he was a three point specialist??? has he ever looked at his ratio? Perhaps Lenny is to blame for that, because early on when he was in a funk, Lenny used to tell him to keep on shooting the ball, although he corrected that statement at the end...

Earlier in the season, I LOVED it when Sweetney, Nazr, JYD, and Ariza played together with either Crawfish or Marbury at the point. JYD was led the young guys nicely, and the unit worked together nicely. I honestly didn't understand why they couldn't continue using that unit, if it worked together. I mean, it couldn't have been for defensive reasons, b/c nobody else on the team was much better besides KT. And it couldn't have been for scoring purposes either, b/c Crawford and Marbury are at the point, scoring, and Nazr was doing a good job scoring at that time.

It's too bad Nazr injured his groin like that. We PROBABLY would have been in a much better position, b/c he was playing at a really high level. I really wanted to see if we could have netted another nice young center for him. I guess we'll never know.

We will know, Nazr's replacement will come via the draft...We are going to find a much more polish player whom will be taller, younger and stronger with great shot blocking abilities....Believe my friend...Isiah is not stupid...He knows what we really need...The Nazr and Kurt combo was never effective. Neither of them possess a postup game....

Oh I agree fully, except that they were playing effectively. They weren't 3 games above .500 for NO reason. One reason was b/c Nazr was playing at a high level, and yes, he was scoring in the low post. However, I thought this was best for his trade value, unless Isiah wanted to get a center another way, and make Nazr the backup, which could have been great.

But now it's gonna be difficult to be even close to winning the lottery, unlike 3 weeks ago. Oh, I knew this season was gonna drive me nuts, but not like this.

I am loving it...I actually wanted Kurt Thomas traded, because he is the reason why we are so unbalanced...Isiah should have traded him instead....As for Nazr scoring in the lowpost, Let's get it straight, that boy has no low post game, he was just cleaning after our shooters...A lineup of Marb, Crawf, TT, Sweet or Mo, and Nazr is a much bigger lineup than having Kurt at Center....

people don't understand the difference between scoring downlow and scoring in the post with you back to the basket drawing double and triple teams and finding open shooters. Neither Kurt or Nazr could ever do that. Nazr was just a black hole when he got the ball in the post. He didn't know what to do with it. Occasionally he threw up a lucky turn around shot but most of his points game on putbacks and baby hooks, but it had no impact on the team because he doesn't force a double team because no team fears Nazr Mohammed.

You're right. I even made a post a couple of months ago, saying how Nazr almost never ever kicked the ball out when he gets it in the post. But I was very happy about his production, mainly b/c his trade value was sky rocketing. Unfortunately, Isiahs love for him probably was too, until he got hurt. I really wanted to see if we could get a Dalembert for Nazr or someone, but I guess not anymore.
