Time-Warner and Cablevision could leave 2.4 million viewers without Knicks and Mets games.
At midnight tonight, MSG Network and Fox Sports New York could go off the air for subscribers of Time-Warner's cable system if an agreement is not reached.
While no discussions were held this weekend, both sides ran dueling crawls. Cablevision — which owns MSG and FSNY — ran a graphic, blaming Time-Warner for the potential loss of the networks and supplied an 800 number for complaints. An MSG spokesman said the network had received more than 2,000 calls.
Time-Warner responded with its own crawl, blaming Cablevision. Time-Warner plans on rebating its subscribers $2 per month, while replacing MSG and FSN with NBA TV and College Sports Television.
Time-Warner contractually is only allowed to run the crawl on the Weather Channel and TV Guide Channel.
Knick fans would be the first ones affected by the blackout. The Knicks face Washington tomorrow on MSG.
The two sides, which have worked with interim agreements since December 2003, have had trouble making a deal in part because the Mets are leaving Cablevision after this season to start their own network. One of the Mets' partners in the venture is Time-Warner.
