Looking at this years draft, while it would be nice to get a center such as Bogut i just dont see it happening. this drafts 2 strongest postitions are arguably pg and pf. ive heard a lot of people mention names such as taft, vazquez, splitter, or maybe even hakim warrick. this got me wondering if that were to happen, wat ex would sweetneys future here be. isiah has said he doesnt wanna trade him but there is just no reason to have like 8 pf's on one team. unless the knicks get the top pick it is highly unlikely any worthy center will be around when the knicks turn to pick comes, and i dont see isiah going for a wing. so with all this in mind, in the end, will sweetney be the knicks pf of the future or not?

I dunno.....I'm a big Bogut fan. Bogut would be awesome in the middle for the Knicks.....

Sweetney is a big question mark.

He destroys Mihm and the Lakers one night then when Orlando comes with the length of Howard and Cato he is ineffective. Is this what we will expect for the future?

The easy comparrison for Sweets is Elton Brand.....Brand has a mean streak. Brand is simply not a nice guy on the court. Brands motor is also relentless. Brand also came into the league putting up all-star numbers. Sweetney is too nice on the court. His whole game is banging inside but he does so cleanly. He's doesn't have a nasty bone in his body.

The Knicks have to give him an extra season to see what they got.....but with Sweets skills, and athletic ability how much better can he get?

If the best available player is a PF, then take him and just trade Sweetney.

I have no problem with tradin him, all the talk of him being a superstar int he makin is out of control.

He will always be undersized and out of shape, and he was a Layden pikc, which does not make you feel all that good.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

you DO NOT trade sweetney. even if he's a 6th man. he gives us a dimension that nobody else does and he's only 22.

one day you guys laud him, one day you guys call him a question mark. which one is it?

sure, let's go and bring up an athletic PF with no post game so we can take another part of our offense away...there is no PF with his type of back to the basket game coming out this year.

Sweetney gets position in the paint that Shaq doesn't even get anymore. Sweets also gets to the line. He's a decent shot blocker and passer, too.

I almost get a stiffy when he scores inside because it's done the way a big man should do it.....then when a team tall like Orlando comes along....it makes you question him.

This draft will play a big part in the future....Isiah could use Sweets to get Bogut, or Isiah could get lucky and draft 2 nice players or move up to get Taft....it's something to think about. Is Sweets infact the guy we want as a cornerstone of our Knicks?

he doesn't have to be. he's a piece to the puzzle. he doesn't have to be KG or duncan. he can even be a 6th man. but it's somebody that you don't trade b/c he's good.

nobody is taking sweets and our pick for the #1 UNLESS we're #2 or 3. i don't want to trade him. even if he does ultimately come off the bench. he's a good player and there's no need to move good players.

Sweetney is a mystery. I think his inability to pass out of a double team is something that the Knicks coaching staff should be all over. He just got engulfed by Orlando's big men. It looks like the Magic were ready for him too. One on one, Sweets can overpower just about everyone but that double team gives him trouble.

Yeah I feel you.....kinda makes you wanna gouge your eye balls out because Taylor and Rose are on the roster.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few months....

To be honest, at this point in time, Taylor is the better player. His post game is better, better shooting touch, and they both stink defensively. The only thing is that Sweetney is cheaper than him now. But Sweetney contract is coming up next year. hmm...

He was great at passing out of the double team the problem was no one could make a shot. Marbury our best player and highly overpaid bricks wide open shots as does TT,Crawford,Penny

If we drafted another young PF, teams would fleece us in a deal for Sweetney because they would know that we're desperate to move him.

I think the guy is gonna be great for us. I'm willing to give him one more season. I'm hoping Isiah can do something with this PF glut.

Considering Thomas has brought in every single PF on this team other then Sweetney, (he did extand KT you know) why hope for anything from this moron?

All he has done so far is mismanage the team towards a entire new level of salary hell.

And don't bring up the fact that Penny and TT expire in 2 years, cause trading for guys with 3+ yar max deals because they expire at some point is beyond idiotic.

The only thing I can say that would make anybody feel better, is that "all shall pass", and so will this.

I wouldn't trade Sweetney next summer unless he could land us Bogut. I would give him this offseason to do what he has to do to become the calibre player he is cappable. And if he doesn't I would trade him if another team offerd a great deal but I wouldn't shop him.

With the constant turmoil that the Knicks always seem to be in these days,Sweetney is probably a bit rattled with all the roster changes, coaching changes,GM changes, that he has had to deal with in less than 2 seasons as a Knick.

If there were something resembling stability on this team we could see if Sweetney can be a building block or not.In the meantime I wouldnt trade him until we found out,or were offered something involving a #1 pick.
