this deal would be easier if we had Moochie or Baker's expiring deals, BUT I think this might be an option:

JYD + $3mm + 2005 #1 pick (probably 8-12) + 2006 #1 pick (lottery protected) for Wilox.

That means they pay $9mm for JYD for two years and dont have to deal with resigning Wilcox whos' a FA after next. They get a pair of picks back and we get a 23 year old uber-athletic center that played very well as a starter.

He's got a stress fracture in his leg so I would like to see him have a strong finish health wise. I would start w/ the one pick but the 2006 is worth it to me... that draft is going to be dreadfull and easy as hell to buy into as a result.

dont you think Wilcox is better than Taft or anyother big prospect at 8-12?

Here is the problem. Wilcox is a PF. Yes I know he is an athletic PF, but we now have 9 of them. hes to small to be a C, hes not physically built like stoudemire, nor as tough. I hear you, but Im not snapping at that one. I think a JR Smith or an Eddie Curry would bring more. I like JR because I can see the super-stardon in him, he's going to be a super star. Curry, I would give up the lottery pick for, but thats it because I would have to pay him. But I like Smith far better than both players.

well we do see eye to eye on Smith. I read a lot about him last year as he's a Jersey product, and I agree regarding his value. I dont know who we could send back to them. I would rather take a shot at drafting someone if they want one of our young guys. They are under the cap however so we could send them another player with a greater salary.
My guess is JYD and cash (along with the picks) would be the most feasible.

How sad is this for flexibility. Of all the guys on our roster JYD is owed the least in terms of future $$$$

Unless we make the playoffs, I don't think I'd trade the pick for Wilcox. Except for some very brief stretches.

I would never say; NO here is 3 picks" for JR Smith--thats what I would be willing to go to. I'm just really bring up different scenarios here, we have no idea who is in the draft, whether or not we will actually be a lottery pick now that Oneal got hurt,etc....

I was with you on that point. Start low and here is the most I would be willing to give to make the deal happen. Smith is the truth.

Speaking of another Smith here's one I'm even higher on:

Knicks trade 2004 #1, Spurs 2005 #1, $3mm and JYD for Josh Smith from the Hawks.

I wonder if Eddy Curry will actually be available for the lotto pick at the draft? The Chicago owner has said he doesn't want to pay him. If we can't get Bogut, it might not be a bad idea to try to trade for Chandler or Curry. You know Chicago doesn't want to pay them both.

I think Josh Smith, while a great talent is too similar to Ariza and doesn't fill this team's true needs. Also, with winning the slam dunk contest, it would be horrible PR for Atlanta to trade him.
