Nice article on Sweets here, but check out this note on the bottom from the rebounds portion...

Mike Sweetney tumbled and turned his right ankle in practice when he was shoved from behind by Jackie Butler, the Knicks' new big-man prospect.

One in the Post as well:

http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/22299.htm
March 4, 2005 -- ORLANDO — During a Knick scrimmage yesterday at the Magic's practice facility, Michael Sweetney barreled in for a breakaway layup when a new signee, 19-year-old Jackie Butler, pushed him from behind.

It was a flagrant foul — one rarely seen in a practice. Sweetney went flying and twisted his ankle, needing ice treatment afterward.

But Sweetney, in his second year from Georgetown, remained composed and eventually took his spot on the free-throw line.

The incident spoke volumes about Sweetney — undersized, slightly overweight but always poised, always finding a way to get to the free-throw line. Sweetney's laid-back personality belies his on-court persona — a raging bull in the post, with graceful moves to boot at 6-foot-8, 270 pounds.

Sweetney on a breakaway!? A Knick doing the no-layup rule in practice? Sweetney injured, but still went to the line?

Good stuff.

I'm disappointed in Butler. I hope Sweetney's sprain is not too bad.

Hey the guy's supposed to be raw so this is what you get. If this is also a sign of his toughness and attitude of taking the paint personally then it may be a sign of something good. maybe we need to bring back an old knick as coach to battle him in the paint and teach him a few things - Sidney Green!

I definately don't like the fact Butler flagrantly fouling a teamate. It's a heat of the battle type of play. I'm quite sure he got cursed out. Still, It's good to hear that practice is tough. If guys are going after each other in practice like that it makes he games easy.

An article like this is just something to write since there are no other Knick stories until after the Orlando game.

Eh, sounds like a heat of the battel thint to me.

Good to hear that Butler is actually playin in practice, as for the injury, I kinda expect something bad to happen to the Knicks every time they are going well, so no suprise there.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

If it was intentional, then there's a problem. You should play hard in practice, but not pugnaciously.

Starks broke his hand trying to dunk on Ewing in his first practice. Starks said he gained alot of respect for the "big fella" that day because he brings it in practice and out. I like a young kid like Butler doing that. Could use some of that during the playoffs last year.

agree w/u...this team was beginning to resemble an all boys' choir the way they played w/no aggression or fire the past few seasons & got pushed around & dunked on by almost every team in the league...if nothing else, having a guy who plays physical down low & doesn't allow any easy layups will be a breath of fresh air.
