Can we trade the (assuming we get) the 6 pick down to someone (IDK who will have multiple first round picks) for later lotto picks (around 11 or 12) and a later pick (something like 20) netting us 3 first round picks ?
BTW, My list goes like this...
Taft
Simien
Villanueva
Petro
Gilchrist
I would love to pop off a draft of Simien (who I think is eerily similiar to Artest minus the attitude and I think he can play at the SF spot), Petro or Taft (he seems to be dropping), and Gilchrist or Jarrett Jack.
My only problem is....when does it reach a point of having too much youth?
IE
Butler
Ariza
Craw
Simien
Petro
Gilchrist
Whoever we get in the second round...
This is like 7 roster spots and alot of doubling up on positions (Ariza-Simien, Petro-Butler)...
I think we can all throw out names, and there are some real good players. Pf's might not make any sense for us anymore, but we will actually have to find out who is in the draft and where we pick.
I'll be happy with two executed picks that make sense. that could be two high school players or it could be a combination of many things. It will be a real good draft. I think some of these foreign names you hear will be downgraded or will just not be available. The only foreign player that I really believe will be an impact player is a PG who may just be a lottery pick in this draft named Sergio Rodriguez, but he may not be in for 2 more years.
Everything else that I can see are projects or role players. We don't want a project from a high pick. How many "foreign" big men have panned out so far? A few and they are real real good, but there are plenty more busts. That why I say a guy like Diaz. He's proven, he's the best athlete in the draft and he's tough. Even Taft is much more a project pick that a sure fire prospect. I like it when I see a guy dominate a certain level. If a guy can dominate a certain level of his peers, there is a good chance that it will continue on up. Of course there are intngibles to that, like accessing how a players game will translate fom level 2-to level 1. usually the players with the superior athletiscm fair well if they have a high skill level.
we can't afford mistakes, we dont need another Fredrick weis, it wrecks your team. To me, France, the way the people act over there, it just doesnt relate to the toughness of the US athlete. there are always exceptions, but i dont want to play against the odds. there are some real nice hS prospects and even some under the radar CBB players who may come out, that could sneak WAY up into the draft, guys like DJ White, Nick Fazekas, Rudy Gay, Daniel Gibson, Diaz, Adam Morrsion, Von Wafer among others could turn the draft on it's head because of this age limit thing. Have to wait and see who come s out. Im very much inclined, however to stay very clear of foreign players, unless they have proven it here.
