of course, barring we win the lottery, we should trade sweets, our #1 and pho's #1 for the #1 overall pick and take bogut.

i love sweets. i'm a huge supporter but i got to look for what's best for this team. with kurt, sweets, mo taylor and rose here to man the 4, we gotta turn that into something useful. the biggest impact we can do is getting the #1 and i think sweets, our #1 and the later #1 will/could get it done.

getting #2 or 3 would be nice BUT they are not centers.

then we can purchase a late #1 if there's a player isiah wants.

Hopefully we'll win the lottery and be able to get Bogut and keep Sweetney. If not, I'm all for your plan. Let's get Bogut this year and finish off the front court with next year's pick.

I'm not sure if I am one of those lottery teams I do that trade. Especially the Hawks who are desperate for a center.

i wouldn't either but i think that's our best offer.

as for the hawks, everybody is saying they are targetting dalembert and are prepared to give him a big $$$ offer. they have $27 mil in cap space. they can easily give out $60 mil deals to both dalembert AND swift if they wanted to. and then ship out al harrington for a PG/SG. imagine a frontcourt of josh smith, swift, and dalembert - that's 12 blocks a night.

If Bogut is as good as people say he is, then I would also do that deal. I can't honestly say that I think Bogut will be a great player because I have only seen him play once (he played well that one time ) but if he is as good as everyone else is saying then as much as I like Sweets, I would let him go.

wow, if the hawks get that team, let's all go start ultimatehawks.com...

oh well, at least mo taylor's deal will be an expiring deal in three years!

On the bright side... Golden State has Baron Davis now so if they start to get some wins and we stay where we are at, we could end the season with the 5th worst record in the NBA. However, we need the Bucks to stay on top of us which is gonna be hard with their recent trades

I think trading Sweetney for a number 1 draft pick is a good idea. I really don't see him in the future of the Knicks. The Knicks need an athletic pf that can block shots and play with energy. I would not be surprised if Sweetney is traded on draft night.

At least:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/02/26/sports/basketball/26knicks.html

Sweetney, who started at power forward in the Knicks' 113-101 victory Thursday over the Philadelphia 76ers, will probably continue to do so, with the former power forward, Kurt Thomas, remaining at center.

...

But Williams reserved the right to change his mind about Sweetney. Rose or Taylor could end up replacing him as a starter.

I feel Isiah could trade Sweetney with one of his #1 draft picks to move down the draft.

This idea to get the overall No. 1 pick by dealing Sweets plus a couple of No. 1's is terrific from the Knicks' point of view. But no team in its right mind would ever make that trade with us. You do not trade away a No. 1 overall pick for those draft picks (the second of which is a garbage pick) plus a mediocre (at this point, anyway), undersized, slow power forward. If you are gonna deal away a No. 1 overall, you MUST get an All-Star back. Period. In this draft, there are no guarantees at No. 5 (or wherever the Knicks will pick), and throwing in a player like Sweetney simply does not make up for that fact.
