Shandon Anderson: Quick, young defensive guy that gives us someone else to shut down guys like TMac and Vince....bigger players that Spree doesn't like to match up against. His offense is suspect, but if it allows Spree to concentrate on offense more it is a good thing.

Eisley: I've always maintained that with the new 8 second backcourt rule we need a smaller quick point guard to bring the ball up against teams that want to press. We get younger at the point, and healthier. Maybe Allan Houston will focus more on basketball than religion with Ward gone.

Foyle: Defense at the center position. Should be an adequate backup for Camby, and can play th 4 or 5. Hard working guy that VG hopefully will like and give minutes to.

Also, I think this would give us flexablity for next year if we wanted to trade Houston (or Spree) for a top point guard.

Thoughts?

Right on all counts. Only thing is that a couple guys will be on the outside looking in on Van Gundy's 8 man rotation...

I think you are right on in your trade analysis. The biggest thing is that we get better defensivly, and get younger, God it feels good to be young at the point again!

Don't speak too soon and jinx it. Remember how close the origional King Kong trade was to happening before Detroit pulled out.

At first I wasn't so sure, but I like the trade. The Knicks have problems at two positions: center and point guard. This trade helps us at both positions. We lose Rice, who if healthy can really contribute on some team, but is redundant on the Knicks. Foyle is a big guy who can play (as opposed to just warming the bench) and Eisley is younger and healthier than Ward (arguably not much better though).

Who would start at point guard? Jackson or Eisley?
