I'm just curious Briggs, what do you think of Sheldan? I myself am not to high on him, I think he'd be a pretty decent NBA player but I don't think he's even the second best player on that team with Reddick and Daniel Ewing ahead of him. Unfortunately I've seen more Duke games then I want to since they are ALWAYS on tv. I just don't think Duke produces that many great NBA players, now I know Hill and Brand are exceptions but other guys just havent really panned out and I have a feeling that Sheldan is going to fall into this same category. I could be wrong but I dont know, just my gut on this guy. With that said, I think he's a good rebounder and a good defender but I'm not expecting him to be any more then a Danny Fortson, IF that.

Briggs loves him for his defense and toughness. I think he compared him to Oakley.

Take a look for yourself at 9PM on ESPN 2, don't take my word for it. I think you may be shocked.

the game just started and by just watching him run up and down the court with his guns and skinny legs, he looks EXACTLY like erick dampier from his mississippi state days.

I've seen the guy a million times before and I just think he's soft. I wouldnt dare spend a lottery pick on him, low first round at best if you ask me.

Soft? he may actually be the strongest player in the nation, i cant think of a guy stronger physically. hIs actual measurements for this year directly from Rivals without sneakers on 6-9 1/4 262, (so hes likely a tad over 6-10 with sneakers on) wingspan 7-6 1/2, so that means he's bigger than Okafor. He's not the athlete that Okafor is, he's not far behind, but he doesnt have the explosion off the floor like Oka4, like Amare S, he doesnt have that type of game. He's more smash mouth who can block shots and score in the low post. If you want to say a more athletic version of Charles Oakley who can block shots, I'll go with that.

Duke as a team did not play particulary well, Williams had some moments, but looked very much like his teammates last night lethargic to the opposition. He still has 16 7 and 4 blocks. A month ago against the same team he had 25 pts 17 reb 5 blocks. He's not a primary player on that team, like a Mike Sweetney was with G-Town. This is a player who is a third option to Reddick and ewing because they play outside in.

lets say this, I think it's a safe solid pick. does he have more upside than Chris taft? No, but hes a much better player right now. thats why he is a safer pick. He's a guy who gives you that nastiness inside, the ability to post up and score with a variety of moves
and give some mean picks.

I believe in his prime he would put up close to the saem numbers he does now in the nBA--15-16 pts 11-12 rebounds, 2.5-3.0 blocks. Thats not a bad player, that borderline all-star.

Brigss.. you answered my one and only question regarding him. He doesn't look that tall... but that is a big boy. He is dominating defensively...
and wouldn't be a bad pick. He'd fill our greatest need. The lack of foot speed will cause him to slip some, but I would think he'd go around 10 or so.

But, is he coming out? I've heard he's very much leaning towards staying. I thought Boone was more likely to come out than him. Anyone have the dirt?

If Toronto intends on dumping their players and the Bucks play without Redd, we could end up at 8-9-10 which would sck, but its a serious reality. That kid Diaz is F fast and slithery to the hoop. If it ends up we are picking 9, it becomes more of best player availble. At that point, I would take a G over a big if I thought that guard was much superior. Its not like we dont need everything anyway.

From what I've heard, just about everyone in the world is more likely to come out than Boone.

Just wait and see. Obviously I'm in the minority here but it's not like I haven't watched the guy play, I've seen a ton of Duke games and haven't been impressed by him once.
