Stro just had what looked like a really bad ankle injury and he also got kicked in the head pretty hard on the play. It didn't look good

That sucks. Wonder if that hurts his trade chances.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Swift cannot be traded this year. He can sign and trade at the end of the season though. Has to do with his 1 year qualifying offer contract.

I thought the qualifying offer worked like this: If you get an offer from another team and your team uses the qualifying offer, then you can't be traded to the team that gave you the original offer for 12 months, but other teams it was the shorter Dec. 15 timeframe.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Solace, I believe the situation you are talking about is slightly different. When the player is offered the qualifying offer he is designated as a restricted free agent (team can match an offer).

If the player accepts an offer from another team and the origional team matches, then what you said is true...he cannot be traded to the team that offered him the contract.

Swift did not accept another teams offer, but instead opted to sign for the amount that the qualifying offer was designated....which amounts to a 1 year deal. So that is why he cannot be traded.

The Nets are way over the cap and don't have many tradeable assets. Their trade exception expires this year. They have a two first round picks (theirs and one other teams) that likely won't be lottery picks and Nenad to offer in a trade, that's about it. Even with their picks, they can't work out a sign and trade for Stro until July 15th, barring a lock out. And Stro will be completely unrestricted (though Memphis is the only team that can go over the cap to sign him or work out a sign and trade with him).

Other than that the Nets have only the MLE. Sure, Stro would look good in Jersey, but I don't think they have more chips than the Knicks to get him. If the Knicks offered Nazr and Sweetney, they could get something done.

Sweetney is gonna be 10 times the player Swift(one dimensional) is! I wouldn't mind trading Nazr and picks etc but not Sweetney. HELL NO!!!

Sweetney is short and fat. He's at best Corliss Williamson. They should trade him before people realize this. I wouldn't mind keeping him as a reserve, but I don't think he has the size to be a constant starter in this league. How many 9 minute, 5 foul games has he had this year?
