Don't get your hopes up:

Who should NY pick up WHEN Bogut gets taken 1 or 2?

8. Milwaukee 20-29
7. Toronto 21-31
6. NY 20-32
5. Utah 17-34
4. Golden State 14-37
3. New Orleans 11-41
2. Atlanta 10-39
1. Charlotte 10-39

Its too bad we didn't tear it down last year instead of going with this ill-conceived plan of making the playoffs with no chance of winning a championship. Maybe if we had torn it down, we'd actually have a legitimate chance at Bogut as well as having 2 other first rd picks and a high 2nd rd pick that we sure could use. Not to mention cap space when Houston's contract is up. Oh well.

Funny how last year, people who suggested that we lose as much as possible and rebuild through the draft were shot down by most people on this board. Now some of those same people on this board are saying how we need to lose and get high draft picks. Apparently last year you couldn't do that in NY but this year you can.

I guess since Isiah is switching course and pretending that this was the plan all along his Kool-Aid drinking followers are doing the same.

I thought we said that the year before also prior to drafting sweets!

But hey, we could have ended up with TJ Ford!

not at all. I had no problem with trying some things to take advantage of a weak division, so long as it didnt include wasting draft picks.

Since that obviously didnt work out, people are just talking about making a positive out of this. If the Knicks can add an impact rookie along with a MLE and/or a reasonable trade or two they can get right back into the mix while still getting younger.

Isles... Still havent gotten that hooker I see

They traded away 2 first rounders, 1 second rounder and aren't optimizing this years pick. That's what I would call wasting picks for a team indesperate need to rebuild.

Right back into the mix of what? Taking advantage of a weak division but having no chance at a championship? Oh goody. And that's IF they can find and impact rookie with a middle of the lottery pick, add a useful player with the MLE (couldn't do it last year), and make a couple of reasonable trades that actually improve us (haven't seen one yet from Isiah).

the one thing I don't understand is how this team got worse from last year.

Full training with coach, added Crawford & JYD, etc.

How?

And unless David Stern is going to help us out, the way our luck has been going, we'll end up the worse pick we can get with our record...

I think right now we are 6th and could easily wind up 5th. That gives you a very good chance to win the lottery, and if you dont most picks in that range have yielded solid players. Isiah has had 3 lottery picks as GM. Two became ROY in Camby and Damon, the other was McGrady (since we are going on history).

I would also call Crawford a good trade. Both he and Marbury can really play... unless you covet Kirk Snyder or Kris Humphries because thats what went with that #1 pick we gave up. The other is lottery protected through 2010.

Sorry, but Crawford and Marbury are good players and are 24 and 27.

What does that even mean?

And I agree with fishmike about the draft picks we traded, as well. They were given up for Marbury...not some old, washed up, quick fix kind of guy...so that makes it worth it to begin with....and they really weren't spectacular picks anyway. Well worth a Stephon Marbury.
