The Golden State Warriors have traded forward Clifford Robinson to the New Jersey Nets in exchange for two future second round draft picks (2005 & 2007) and a trade exception from New Jersey equal to the amount of Robinson's salary, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today.

"First and foremost, we'd like to thank Clifford Robinson for his contributions to the Warriors, " said Mullin. "He's a professional and a great competitor who served this team well for the last two seasons. Additionally, from our standpoint, this trade will provide us with not only two additional draft picks, but also the flexibility that comes with a large trade exception that can be utilized at any point over the next year. "

Robinson, 38, has appeared in 42 games this season (29 starts), averaging 8.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.05 steals in 26.0 minutes per contest. He tallied a season-high 25 points at Dallas on December 14 and scored in double-figures 19 times, while topping the 20-point plateau twice. He has missed nine games this season, four due to injury and five due to an NBA suspension, giving him a career total of 28 games missed out of 1,249 regular-season team games played during his 16-year NBA career.

so, in essence, the nets traded away 4 total picks: 2 first rounders and 2 second rounders for vince and cliff.

was that trade exception the one they acquired in the Kittles trade? if so, you need to add Kerry Kittles to that list of what they gave up to get Vince & CRob.

Vince has played so well that it makes 2 draft picks look like not a big deal. Who were the two picks from again? Were they likely lottery picks?

I know its fun to bash the Nets, but they really did well by getting vince. He is back to form, and while it sucked that he tanked, it really looked like he did have some cause to bolt from the Raps.

The Raptors waited until his value hit the lowest of his career and then traded him. They timed it awfully

Nets traded Denver first rounder and Philly's first rounder in Vince deal. They kept Clippers first rounder. If Clippers make playoffs this year nets get there pick , If Clippers miss playoffs Nets get Clippers 2006 first rounder top 3 protected. And in CRob deal they dealt there 07 second rounder and Clippers 05 second rounder.

They have clips and there pick also? Thats very good. The denver pick might be higher than expected as that team. Thorn does a good job in the draft!

The nets play an interesting game of chess with player moves. They made good of Kenyon leaving.

not really.. that was a huge mistake and they admitted it, If they still had Kenyon they would be right there w/ Det or Miami or any other team to win the East this year.

Kenyon's had a disappointing year. I think his knees are worse than people realize. I'm not sure giving him a 6 yr max contract would have been in NJ's best interests. He's only a 15/8 player right now who's playing like he's on the "wrong side" of 27.

Yeah, I don't consider Kmart a max talent. I'd consider him very similar to Stromile Swift, though Kmart has the higher basketball IQ and is more determined on defense. Kmart would be a good piece for the Nets, but you look at that team now and they all buy into that team and into that system and they're playing some great ball. I'd be surprised if the Nets didn't win the division.
