taft does not impress me. the form on his shot is nasty. he is young, and he can improve ALOT but his body language is tim thomas personified.

warrick is aggressive but that post will not be there for him in the nba. he needs to develop a jumper but other than that, he can easily be a defensive specialist/hustle player like gerald wallace.

tough one... do you take the guy that plays full steam like Warrick or the guy with the more conventional NBA body like Taft?

neither. I'd take either Andrew Bogut or Fran Vazquez who are actual centers. I'll take my chances on winning a championship with a star center over another dime a dozen PF. Has Chris Webber, Kark Malone ever won a championship? Will Phoenix with Amare win one over the Spurs and Heat? No

Dude, Bogut is a no brainer, but I'm assuming we wont have the #1 pick. So far all I know about Fran is from that 20 secs of footage that was posted. If Isiah drafts him great, I trust his judgement of talent, he hasnt missed in the past.

Assuming those guys are off the boards and your left with guys like Warrik/Taft/Graham I'm saying I would opt for Warrick

I see your point but I would still hope that another foreign center impresses them during rookie camp. And like you said Isiah is a good evaluator of talent so its very unlikely he drafts a bust. We need a good center and the only way we're gonna get one is through this draft not through trades and free agency. We can't afford one right now. We might have a shot at a really good PF like Brand but we definitely don't have a shot at an elite center.

Ya know, that's a very good point that I think a lot of us forget whilst coveting the next Amare. I still have yet to be convinced that Bogut will approach Duncan, but I'd be happy with the next Brad Miller.

I'm not going to say I would LOVE a legit center, but we still have other areas to improve. Plus if you stockpile enough talent you can offer other teams some nice packages.

exacty I'm not saying He's equal to duncan. i'm just saying his style of play if very similar on both ends of the floor. He plays more like Duncan than Brad Miller. He doesn't have to be a top 3 center in the league for us to win a championship since we already have Marbury and whatever good players they get for TT/Penny/Kur/Nazr/H20. If he turns out to be the 4th best center in the league we are in very good shape. I know for a fact that he is a hell of a lot better than Erick Dampier.

At worst he'll be on the same level as Illgaukus and Brad Miller. I think if we finish with the 4th or 5th worst record we'll have a GREAT shot at Bogut or at least Vazquez.

This is very true. But, while I would love to watch a team of athletes like Stromile Swift, Ariza, Warrick, Craw and Marbs (and I'm thinking Isiah would too), that's clearly not the way you go in the league to win championships. So, are we trying to build the next Phoenix Suns? To what end? Eh. Just a thought.

i consider Chris as one of the top on our list at 6-7 along with Sheldan williams and that 7-2 Russian C. Im not interested in Hakim this high because he will not help our defense, he's only a amrginal defender and when he is played tough by big people--just like the other night, he tends to disappear. Sorry, we want tough guys OR skill player who are over 7 feet tall. I want someone 250 pds of muscle and up who can block shots rebound and bring toughness to this ***** like group.

Warrick is a long, athletic scorer and shot blocker. He's certainly a top notch piece to add to the puzzle, but he's no franchise player. He's someone to seriously consider if we do your Toronto draft pick swap that you mentioned in another thread. i.e. pick him at 8th or 9th and then pick someone with size at 15 or so.

Hakim is a solid pick in the 8-12 range. If we are #5 or even 6 I agree you have to do better. I'm just not high on Taft. I will be fair and say I've only seen him twice now but he just seems to coast and only play aggressive when things are going is way.

There is still a lot of time and we have no idea who's coming out. I would rather trade the pick for Wilcox than take Taft at this point.

I just keep praying Uconn wins it all and Boone comes out. We probably have a better chance at Bogut than that happening.

the thing is to get that #5 spot. If you get that you have great leverage. Look at what Wash did trading for Jamison. There's a lot of teams with multiple picks. Maybe we trade the #5 to Tor for the #8 and #15. The thing is to secure that leverage by locking up #5. You also have a solid chance of moving into the top 3.

He wants to graduate. That really doesn't have much to do with whether or not his basketball team wins this year.

Im not going to dog Chris Taft. Of course we dont have all the information of who is coming out, where we will be[because we could start winning and end up at like pick 8-9-10 which would start scking]
What Chris Taft is good at that is overlooked is he is a good defender in the post. If you put this guy through a weight/strength program and work on his fundamentals, this guy could be a monster. He has one of the highest upsides in this draft, and he definitely is a tough kid. I think right now he is averaging 14 pts 7 rebounds 2 blocks in 25 minutes. If he upticks in play and fundamentals and is given more time, then you are looking at a 6-11 260 pd 20-10-3 guy. If it came down to it, I wouldnt be upset with that pick at all. he's going to be better than Wilcox, Wilcox is a one-way player.
Heck I wouldnt mind swiping both Sheldan Williams and Taft.

That would be adding

19 YO 6-11 260 C
21 YO 6-9 260 PF
I mean we could use that. We don't need perfection on the inside, we need guys who CAN score in the post but ALSO guard the lane.

who knows what will happen. maybe will will use our draft pick in a sign and trade for earl Boykins.

haha... good enough.

Interior D and guys that can finish are huge. Crawford and Marbury can make it so easy to score for guys yet we dont really have anyone that takes advantage. Thats why I have been pining for Stromile since we got Marbury.

Briggs, thats fine what you wrote about Taft. Whether I agree or not doesnt matter. If Isiah picks one over the other I'm fine with that. In 3 years with Tor and 1 with NY Isiah hasnt made a bad draft pick yet, so I'm praying that continues and he looks to this draft to really help the roster.

I'm wondering if the reason he signed guys like Baker, Bruno and Brewer was because he was hired late last year and didnt have a lot of time or opportunity to scout.

Hopefully thats the case as we knows he's been to UConn games and Europe as well.

I like Shelden Williams, but is he coming out? I'd heard no.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
