Should the Knicks really throw the season for a draft pick?

I was curious to know how many people think the Knicks should wash their season and we should root for the Knicks to have the worst record, thereby handing them the number one pick?

Yes, and I know a whole bunch of people here agree with me when I say yes. The Knicks lack defense, need a head coach (and a high draft pick player to play with), another trade, KT for Swift, and the Knicks need to become more athletic, and unload veterans, or just let their contracts run out. No more starphucking for Dolan.

yes for all those reasons. this team isnt going anywhere. They dont have to try to tank but they will lose because they're a bad team. Let the games play out.

Thats how I feel. Let the games play out. I like seeing Ariza and Sweetney get playing time and it makes me even happier when they gain confidence with every win they are apart of for the future. I say let the chips fall where they may and hope for the best. However, I really dont think we should watch Knick games and want them to lose.

What is the point of winning games at this stage?

Winning games and improving records to the point where we miss the play-offs anyways and get 15th position in the draft is not only going to not benefit this team, but will keep this team in the no man's land for longer.

I understand that players themselves want to win games, and I root for them. But winning SOME GAMES now is not an ideal thing for the franchise and the fans LONG TERM. If Isiah and Dolan are serious about REBUILDING as they are not hinting, they should trade KT, etc for picks, and make it harder for this team to win games this season.

how about this: no tanking, but a lot of Sweets and Ariza, and then... come what may.

Let the kids play and learn and grow. Losses will mount, but as teh season progresses you start doing better and gain confidence. Let nature take its course.

Tanking is to damaging to young players confidence.

I hope we can make a trade that brings in more developing youth.

Perhaps its all one and the same, but you must play for a purpose, otherwise you'll lose guys like Marbs and Craw to the dark side for go. Teams need to grow and play for another day. Tanking defines you as a loser, that managment does not care, coaches do not care, etc, and you start playing for stats. If the vets start doing that they are not allowing the rookies to develope.

Call it what you want, but tanking is never a good idea.

Don't tank for the number one pick, but when there are four quality bigs possibly available at the 5 pick, it's hard to say don't tank for a high pick. If we got:

1) Boone or
2) Bogut or
3) Taft or
4) Warrick

I'd be ecstatic.

Listen, there's no way to win the division now. They can MAYBE sneak in and grab an 8 seed, but they can't catch the Nets or Celts. If they finish the season 19-15, which is slightly better than their 16-13 pace, they'll finish with 38 wins. 38 wins. Do we really want another 38 win season?

It's illogical to hope for playoff success. It's time to be real and acknowledge that a top five pick would work wonders for this team, especially with some of the talent available in this draft.

There should be a third option: I don't care that much whether they make the playoffs and get the 15th pick or miss and get the 10th so long as they use their huge trade assets this summer intelligently

if your going to tank, you have to do it constructively

move KT for Rose and SA's 2 late #1s
move Nazr for Ervin Johnson and the Wolves #1 (probably around 15-18)

Then finish the year playing Sweetney and Ariza starter's minutes and like Martin said let whatever happens happens. Maybe they rally... great. Maybe they lose every game and Rudy Gay comes out.. even better.

exactly, if the knicks make these moves, get lucky and make the playoffs and lose in round one, so what!! we will have 4 first round picks.. we could easily parlay those into two top 10 picks..

I'll second that. The more Sweets/Ariza, the better.

If we wanted to tank, we shouldn't have fired Lenny, and TT should be in the starting lineup wasting space.
