this argument is old man. Check out Sweetney per minute play ratio and compare it to Kurt's. Now if Sweetney's numbers are better, that enough should tell you that Sweetn deserves to start. He goes to the charity lines a lot more, passes the ball better, has a postup game, rebounds just as well as Kurt. Who would you much rather have especially when your team is consist of nothing but jump shooters????
[Sweeney is in the rotation every night (he has played less then 10 minute 4 times not counting injuries). Most players in this league who become starters have the same situation. You play well you earn minutes. You come into camp in shape you work hard consistently you improve your weaknesses and you earn your way to a starting job. Sweeney has not shown himself to be a special enough talent or a hard enough worker to skip the steps that all but the most talented players in the league go thru. Rewarding inconsistent effort and the inability to stay in shape with a starting job is often counter productive. He gets plenty of minutes to prove himself - he just doesn't.
