Would you do the trade ? It seems as if the Knicks might get Webber before the trade deadline...Reading the speculation in today's Newsday Section on the main page....KT, and TT for Webber? I'd try to get KT for Webber, but I doubt that would happen.

except Webber's contract expires after 2008.

Imagine having 40million in expiring contracts between Cwebb and H20?!

I would pull the trigger on that trade for that reason alone!we're not going to be a championship contender til at least 2008 anyway

add a shoblocking C to a team of Webber, Ariza, Crawford & Marbury & i think they could very well contend for the Finals after a year or so of getting comfortable w/each other & Ariza developing his game.

contracts, contracts, contracts

if you are a knickerbocker fan then you would have known 10 years ago that the Knicks are NOT trying to get under the salary cap

why can't you see that

Tough call, Webber is clearly several times better of a player than those 2 guys are, but I just don't like the thought of bringing in Webber. His knees and contract just sort of scare me away. I'd have to think about that one long and hard.

who would you take Webber or Carter? I'd take Webber in a second because he is an inside player. The perfect fit. Carter, steph and craw are too perimeter oriented.

agreed...give a guy like CWebb to Marbs to work the pick & roll with & this team instantly takes a GIANT leap forward...plus, u can use CWebb in the high post orchestrating since he's a terrific passer as well.

yeah then sign a steven hunter as backup center and you're set. Bogut is still my #1 preference but I have a feeling they'll trade for Cwebb if they can

Chris Webber grew up in Michigan watching the Pistons play, and nobody epitomized the team like Isiah Thomas. Thomas was Webber's boyhood idol and also an occasional mentor to the phenom who went on to play for the University of Michigan.

With Webber's problematic contract, the Kings might be interested in moving him and the Knicks are notorious for taking on huge contracts.

On Friday, Webber spoke of the situation with Isiah and the Knicks.

"I would like to finish my career here as a King and finish the plan we started," Webber said. "I promised myself I would give the Maloofs [the Kings' owners] a championship, so I would like to do that.

"But realistically, I don't know. Everybody knows how much I love Isiah. He's the man to me. He's my favorite person in the world.

"I thought about what it would be like to play for him, somebody who you know would cuss you out and beat you up almost and know that it was in your best interests," Webber said. "He's really made me a better person more than a basketball player. We shared the same similarities in growing up, inner city and being shipped out to a suburban college preparatory school and having to deal with both worlds and figuring your way out. It was a really good situation to have somebody like that to talk to.

"I love the guy, but right now, I'm with Sacramento, and this is where I hope to stay and win a championship."

That is the decision Isiah has to make....the Knicks could either go after Webber and players like that to put arounf Marbs for a final stand

or

he can slowly start to cut it down and start over with youth and the draft.

I personally think he has to make a radical move now before the deadline to set up either plan....sort of get the ball rolling now....

About Sactown?

Miller is a gamer.....he torched the Knicks and he also torched the previous team they played for 38. Peja is a legit go to guy and they have Mobley, Bibby and Songaila especially. Songaila is ready to start in this league......Sactown is already reloaded. Getting Timmy would be nice for their bench for a season then they could easily let him walk......

Webber till 2008 would be rough. His health is bad but he does it all on the court.....his passing alone would allow the Knicks to run more motion offense in the half court,.....more back door plays preventing Craw from shooting too much on his own.

Isiah just needs to pounce now: either reload or rebuild.

TT and KT for CWebb - the Kings would have to be stupid to do that trade, if I was Isiah I would pull the trigger immediately if thats on the table. Who cares about the contract...we arent getting under the cap till 08 anyway and TT and KT both suck here.

the only way i get webber is when:

1. we're one player away from an nba title

OR

2. it's in a package for allan houston.

those are the only two instances. any other scenario and the knicks get the short end of the stick regardless of the trade package.

i agree with the first one.....

Getting Webber for Timmy and KT would be great but is that the missing piece? Would a coaching change take that team to the next level.....the Knicks even after getting Webber would be still one player away from winning anything.

right now we're more than 1 player away from winning a title...you have to build a championship team piece by piece, unless you can get a Shaq or Tim Duncan.

Webber would be a huge upgrade if he stays healthy - but that is a huge risk.
