The Lakers are keeping Grant on their team unless they can get a SHORTER contract. They want money free for the summer when Yao, Amare, Wilcox and Nene hit UFA and they've said so in-between the lines several times.

However, if you offered them Nazr and Penny-OR-Tim Thomas for Brian Grant and Caron Butler, they MIGHT do it. Though, I have no idea why they would be down on a player like Butler.

So, he's 6'6-1/2" with a near 7' wingspan (ALL NBA players' heights are listed with shoes on). He's about an inch shorter than Sweetney.

Not this again. I'm going to drop out of the height argument for my sanity.

Well, if you don't like the concept of going by a player's height with shoes on, then you also have to adjust the height of what you think a player at each position should be. For example, most PFs are around 6'7 1/2" without shoes on. Most SFs are around 6'5 1/2" wo/ shoes

You don't have to reply since I read your previous comment, but let me just say that I *agree* with you 100% that players' heights should NOT be measured with shoes on. The only point is that *every* NBA players' height IS measured with shoes on. It's not fair to compare Butler's height with shoes off versus other SFs' heights with shoes on (and if you think an SF should be 6'7", you're going by their height with shoes on).
