Nobody looks out for on another. If there ever was a time that Oakley was needed now is the time. If Oakley was here he would have had Stephon's back after he made those comments about being the best and the media was ripping Marbury every day. Getting Marbury's respect. He would do it even if he wasn't the biggest Marbury fan. But he would have done it because Marbury wears Orange & Blue just like him. And respect for the uniform would have pushed him to support Marbury. In return Marbury would respect Oakley's opinons when Oakley critisizes him. And probably would go all out for Oakley and Oakley would return the favor going all out for Marbury. Thats how chemistry is formed. Tim Thomas was right all along in the fact that nobody stepped up when Collins clobberd him. Its not about attacking Collins. But somebody should have gotten in his face. Again if Oakley was here he would have stepped up. And Tim Thomas would respect Oakley for looking out for him. It didn't bother me as much before because I never felt that most of these players would be here for long. But that doesn't matter. As soon as they put on the uniform the pride should be there. These guys need to start sticking up for each other on the court and in the media. Marbury should have definatly taken the more politically correct road in answering the question. But if his team also rally behind him if for nothing else than because he wears the orange and blue then we win more than 2games in the last 15. And getting that type of support from his teammates would make Marbury respect the and it would show on and off the court.

This collection of players(I don't even want to say team)quit on the season already. They get paid millions of dollars to bust there as and people pay big money to watch them bust there ass. It doesn't matter if they continue to lose. Its there job they are obiligated to go hard.

Show them some old tapes on how they use to play, and how they use to have each others back or something give them some motivation. Bring in Oakley, Starks, Harper, Mason, Ewing, LJ and have them do some guest appearances on what wearing the uniform meant to them. And that this current group is a dissgrace. And how they must bring the tradition back. Even if it doesn't have a huge effect on the veterans. It will on Crawford-Ariza-Sweetney, the future.

bring in Oak, the XMan, LJ, Starks, Ewing & Childs to give these guys a 1 day training clinic on how they're supposed to represent the Orange & Blue.

Not sure I agree that Oakley would have backed him up.
What makes you think so? I don't remember him saying anything
very strong in support of Ewing when people where criticizing him.

I think its a little naive to think wearing the colors automatically got your back. Im sorry, nobody stepped up for TT cuz they might not like tt, his effort, or his mouth. This being all private.

Nobody might not got Marbs back cuz he might be a real diva act knowing that Isiah got his back and can get over on things. Players will run thru walls for their leader, but that has got to be earn. We don't know what goes on behind doors, but this group had no character and good reputations before coming together, and that in itself could really contribute to a lack of respect, and self respect.

Ever play with a guy whom despite his talent, walked his own beat, intimidated all around him, including the coach, had his own agenda, and posse and was not interested in being with the team cuz he was too cool? That stuff just breaks up a team. Marbs has the power to abuse.

Im sorry, I wish it was that simple.

I always thought Oaks toughness was born from the collection of guys whom played well, partied togheter, and went to war together, and thus had each others back after the fact. Toughness and leadership takes time, but it takes effort.

But you need the right ingrediants first. To me, KT is the guy, but Marbs might be the divisor on the team.

It's funny how the Nets had there team dismantled. Alienated fans by trying to move to Brooklyn . Players wanting trades but now they have righted the ship and every single player on the nets is happy, saying great things about each other and calling them self a family. Knicks on other hand act like they are on a reality show and want each other cast-off.

eh... thats all BS to me. This is a product of losing. Every losing team is a bunch of malcontents who cant get along.

Those Knick teams had plenty of chemistry problems, the difference is the won, and when you win its easy to clamp your mouth shut or make sacrifices.

I wouldnt exactly say NJ has "righted the ship"

Lets see when they head out west a couple times, or Vince has to miss a week because of a tummy ache and the Nets go 0-4 and fall back to last.

Guys seemed to be getting along ok when we were 16-13.

Then marbs proclaimed hes the best, Then Penny got exiled, then KT and Marbs bickered, ETc.

Its a chicken or egg thing, which came first?

By my "Righted Ship" comment i wasn't talking about there record or recent wins..i'm talking about there attitude.

Who has a better chance of winning....Team with losing record and negative attitude or the losing team with a positive attitude.

That's my point.

They play with poor body language. They also seem to have quit on the season.

Wilkins before he left gave a passionate speach about sticking together during adversity. They aren't sticking together and leaning on each other. And if they care about winning than thats what they are gonna have to do.

I think that Lenny did a poor job of teaching. It shows. Not only do they not know how to play D as a team, the offense stinks too. I will blams Marbury and Crawford a bit for that, but in gneral the team does not play to its strengths (if they have any).

On offense, NY needs to drive the lane on EVERY possesion. Then dish off for a layup or kickout for the jumper. In any case, the ball must ALWAYS go in first. That is the job of the guards. For that I give Marbury poor marks. He may have hit a wall lately due to the Olympics thing.

On Defense, NY needs to Challenge every shot. HOw many times did they just watch someone shoot last night instead of running at them. Yes, the player should know this, but coaching has to assist them by making them accountable. I think Herb is trying it.

By the way, did you see KT try and post up Martin? How pathetic. After seeing that, I am 100% convinced the guy needs to go for a bag of pistachio nuts.

I don't think life in the NBA is that easy. Teams know to double up or clog the lane when Marbury gets the ball and is looking to drive to the lane. You need outside shooters to open things up for him, or slahsers that move to open space who can catch and shoot or catch and dunk.

Knicks just don't have that. Realistically you can ALWAYS double off of Nazr and still recover his position. And you can rotate out to KT because you know all he is going to do is shoot the 15-18 footer. And you know you can collapse your D on Ariza and make him shoot the outsite shot (or on TT for that matter).

Marbury uses the pick and roll with KT very well, but that's all the Knicks have right now.

Craw should drive more.
