This team will be lucky to finish with a record of 28-54, that's 10 more wins for the rest of the season. And that could end up being the best thing that's happened for this franchise in the past 5 yrs. Go Knicks!

How the Knicks use their $40 mil in expiring contracts and their other trade assets over the offseason matters so much more to me than whether we miss the playoffs and get about the 10th pick or make the playoffs and get about the 15th pick

I dont care one way or another.. these things are what they are. I would (of course) prefer one extreme or another, meaning if we dont make the playoffs we have a total tank job for a top 5 pick.

The 2nd half scedule is pretty soft and if the Knicks can find any cohesion and health they actually have a pretty good chance of bouncing back. Is that what I want? I dont really know... If I had a crystal ball it would be more helpfull.

I dont think for minute we are getting a top 5 pick.. it just doesnt seem likely. So whats better? A late lottery pick or trying to move guys like KT/Nazr/JYD/Penny whoever after they had a strong 2nd half and possibly even a looked good in the playoffs?

I'm for whatever helps us to continue to turn this roster over and get us young and better. I'm not convinced tanking or squeeking into the playoffs has one clear advantage over another.

Should have done it when Lebron and Melo were in the draft - who can we get this year with a top 5 pick?

Guys - I don't think a tank is optinal. I think this team is playing like such total crap right now that it's an inevitable tank. Winning is not currently an option.

I'm not sure Bogut or Marvin Williams are the same but a stud 3 would be a nice addition. Plus if you have a high pick you can always parlay that into other assets

at one time this year, we had the swagger. I anticipate it returning. I'm not done with this team yet, but we do miss TT. (yep, I said it)

strange reply, considering Ariza is on our roster.

And the Knicks do have Sweets... but Bogut, Taft, Marvin Williams would be on my list of 4/5 studs to pick up through the draft.

Draft picks, give me a break. I anticipate this seanon coming down to the final game. we play nothing but eastern conference teams in april.

As fast as it has turnd around is as fast as it will reverse, this is probably going to be the strangest season eve.

I'm just thinking immediate impact. I like Ariza alot, but I'm not sure he ever be more than a good role player. A guy that gives you 10/7/3 in 25 minutes off the bench and good D at 2-3 positions. To me thats a very good piece to have, but I'm not building my team going forward w/ Ariza pencilled in at the 3 just yet. Also if you land a more dynamic 3 then you can always play Ariza at the 2 and stick him on the opposition's best scorer.. like Den does w/ Bruckner.

If we got a high pick and Marvin Williams really was the real deal, you can really change your team very quickly. I still stay 100% we can send Nazr + a #2 + cash for Swift in a sign and trade, and grab steven hunter w/ the MLE.

Then you core looks like this:
Marbury
Ariza
Marvin Williams
Swift
Hunter
with Crawford, Sweetney and vets coming off the bench

Then your build around a core of guys around 25 years old w/ Marbury being the oldest and all of them VERY athletic

Who knows... maybe in a year or so if Minn cant build enough assets or the Clippers act like the Clippers you have 2-3 young talented reasonably priced guys to put w/ a pick and expiring deal for a Garnett or Elton Brand.

Its just about moving forward and I think that plan is very realistic.

If we dont get the high pick I do the same moves, but your back to just drafting the best guy on the board. It may be Hakkin Warrick who's less skilled but who's 10 rebounds a game and athletic freakishness would certainly fit well with us at the 3.

Yes, I would still like to make the playoffs. I have been looking forward to it since last season ended, that would be my first priority. Once you get there, it's a clean slate. Anything could happen. In the process, give Ariza, Sweetney, and even Crawford more experience.
However, as fish brough up earlier, if we miss the playoffs, I pray it is by A LOT. With each loss, the thought of a lottery pick, or the way we're going, a high lottery pick, has been enough to calm my stomach and keep the frustration inside. The one thing that would drive me crazy is making a run, and miss the playoffs by a game or two.
