It looks like Penny has been working on his shot with his time away from the Knicks. At this point do you think he is valuable to this team? He also has been good to close out games.

I hear what you are saying. At this point we are stuck with his contract at least until the summer so might as well make the best of it. He has been playing well. I know may Knick fans feel he is a non factor to the team but if he keeps no playing like this he really needs to get more minutes.

its like this...

penny hardaway is not worth his contract... the whole world knows this, penny knows this, and i'm sure if penny was around long enough, and the knicks wanted him (highly unlikely that he won't be traded) he would be happy to resign with them for a totally reasonable salary, something he is actually worth...

with that out the way...

WHEN HE'S HEALTHY..

when penny gets minutes, he's a consistent producer... as a starter i would definately say he'll give you 15 pts a game... look at last years playoff numbers... as a bench player with consistent minutes, he'll give you 10-12, no question...

his problems come when he doesn't get in the game until late and has to try and get into the flow... he doesn't get very many shot attempts, and it makes it look worse when your not in the game for long, and when you WERE in the game you only shot 2 shots, and missed both... then it makes it seem like he's finished.. when thats just not the case...

pennys still valuable if he's used...

but no one would ever deny that he's not worth his contract...

A healthy Penny is a very nice role player. I'm sure the team's record would be better if he had been healthy and could have replaced Crawford on nights where Jamal's shot was off and he kept chucking bad shots.

the numbers this season:

9-8 with Penny in the lineup

9-17 without Penny

9-5 when Penny plays 20 or more minutes.

He's the glue on offense, a smart player who can hit the J or make a nice play. He's solid on D, not great, but next to Marbury looks like a savant.
