but he wins before he F over his owner!

I would not lose any sleep on Larry coming here, nor pistons getting any compensation.

briggs calm down, what makes you think larry brown is new york bound?
if we had the right coaching from the get-go winning would be a moot point and you'd be saying ny has some nice role players

But no ring. The Knicks have too much of a talent deficit to consider giving up picks for any coach.

I disagree. I think Larry Brown could make our best player an even better player. Do you realize what that could mean for our team? I just know there is a way to win even with this collection of players and even with these injuries. And I think Larry Brown could do it. He did it with AI and role players, and in spite of our lack of a shot blocking presence, we have more talent on this team than that team had IMO.

BTW, the whole Phil Jackson thing with his anti-pg philosophy worries me.

Win a championship? No way. To the contrary, it would set the team back in that regard. Plus the Knicks still owe another first round pick (albeit protected) to Phoenix for Marbury.

What would you be willing to give up?

i really don't expect knicks getting a ring with larry brown anyway, imho. the real deficit is not talent, its called discipline. also checkout caseloads response to briggs on vince carter trade leaper topic.....talent is not the real issue

I gotta agree with Briggs that there is no way I would trade a first rd pick for Larry Brown at this point in time. Lets get some talent on this roster first then worry about getting the right coach for the job.

Where are you hearing that the Knicks would trade a pick for Larry Brown? Are you even allowed to do that?

And I am in the NY/ Briggs wagon. A new coach shouldn't even be in the question, until the Knicks show what kind of plan they have. I want to use our picks wisely, and I want to know who the heck Isiah is going after.

Brown: I'm staying

Says he wouldn't take Knicks job

Speaking to columnist Mitch Albom of the Detroit Free Press yesterday, Brown insisted that the Pistons will be his last coaching job and he has no interest in taking over the Knicks next season.

"Even if they offer me the job at the end of this season, I am not going to go coach the Knicks," Brown told Albom.

The coach also blasted a New York Post reporter, whose story last week raised speculation that Brown may try to break his contract with the Pistons to take over the Knicks. The story quoted Brown as saying the Knicks were his "dream job."

"I told the guy I'm gonna coach in Detroit and this is gonna be my last coaching job," Brown said. "My statement to him was I'm not coaching anywhere else, this is my last coaching job. My goal is to finish here and hang with my family."

Those quotes were not included in the Post story.

The Pistons' front office and many of the team's players reportedly were livid when they learned of Brown talking about the Knicks' job.

"I told him what I'm telling you," Brown continued. "Did I say it was my dream job, yes, I told him it once was. But they passed me over twice. I grew up in New York. I talked to the guy about that. I talked to him about Red Holzman."

The free-falling Knicks fired Lenny Wilkens on Jan. 21 and replaced him with interim coach Herb Williams. Since then, Brown's name has surfaced, along with Phil Jackson's, as possible successors.

The Knicks have lost 12 of their last 14 games and are in danger of not making the playoffs.

Brown, 64, still has 3-1/2 years left on his $25 million contract to coach in Detroit. His Pistons, coming off an NBA title, have struggled much of the season, but they crushed the Knicks, 91-61, in Auburn Hills on Saturday. They held the Knicks to their second-lowest point total in team history since the advent of the shot clock.

But when Brown refused to meet the New York media before or after the game, he only raised speculation about his coaching future.
