The Knicks got 22 points each from Crawford and Marbury, who hit 14 of 16 free throws. Nazr Mohammed added 21 points for the Knicks, including a dunk with 1 minute 31 seconds left that gave the Knicks a 5-point lead.

The dunk was a result of a play drawn in the huddle by Herb Williams, the Knicks' interim coach. When Marbury drove into the middle, then passed to Kurt Thomas, Mohammed went to the basket, took a pass and rammed in the ball.

"It was just a great play he drew up and it worked," Mohammed said of Williams, who replaced Lenny Wilkens when he resigned last Saturday.

Also have to give him props for whatever he said at half time. Energy wise, this was a totally different team coming out of the locker room.

I did notice the knicks actually running through their plays late in the game, something I did not notice much of earlier this season, but I still like lenny, and if Herb can get the guys to listen to him then great, but that should not be a knocks on lenny for sure..

The team played with focus on the defensive end, and kept there bodies moving on the offensive end, with some solid team ball movement in the 2nd half.

They finally started to run out to the 3 point shooters. Which is smarter because even if they over pursue its better that they beat you off the dribble and the opponent goes for 2, than get an open look at 3.

It seems like we only had one play with lenny and that was the pick and roll.

I like the adjustments that Herb made at half time. In the first half, the Knicks really looked horrible...Marburry and the rest of the boys weren't playing like professionals at all...They were throwing the ball around, and they weren't playing like a team....Last night during the first half, was the worst that I have seen this team played....They all had a lack of confidence, and it showed...Maybe that one win will help all of our players to refocus....

I might say, Penny really brought in an added dimension to our team...When he is on the court, they run the plays a lot better...I sure hope that he can stay healthy to help our cause...

Absolutely.. I've been reading the forum for about a month, but just got post approval a few days ago, and this is one of the things that I disagree with many people about. Sure Penny is a salary disaster, but I definitely think they're a better team with him. Everyone knows he's not the same Penny of the Magic, but he makes good decisions, and can actually run an offense.. which I haven't seen Marbury or Crawford do too effectively.

Well one thing, he hadn't played in so long I think we all forgot what he brought to the game, because that isn't the first time he has won a game for us. Second, Ariza is not the answer at the 3 right now. He will be, but now, without Penny we had a hole at the position. Penny filled that nicely.

Hopefully he can be that spot-up shooter we need, among other things he brings to the table. If Penny can bang those 15 footers, tell Kurts punk arse to get down on the blocks and bang with the big boys. It would be nice to see him get an offensive rebound every once in a blue.

Oh cmon, we ran like 1 play out of 5 in the last couple of minutes.

The coahing was very similar to Lenny.

In fact the game was a bonofide choke in the making, the Cavs just did not take advantage of all the chances we gave them.

Also, I woudl like to remind all of you that James was out. And the game was still close, and even worse, we had to come back to even have a chance in it.

So praising anybody at this point is way to early.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Dude! there is nothing wrong with finding a positive out of a win....Penny played well, and we are praising what he brings to the table....I wish that he was the Penny of old, man, do you remember little Penny?

there were two positive plays out of probably eight opportunities. what i thought was alarming is the indecisions and nervousness of players during the last two minutes. maybe penny can help but don't count on it. i kept yelling " drive the lane and let the defense and refs make the decision" but they kept settling for outside jumpers or dribbling around the perimeter. i do not want to hear that the defense did not let them. marbury can blow past mcinnis who is not exactly the defensive juggernaut or snow who has lost a step otr two since 2001. crawford could drive too.

so to validate your pitiful existent you have to come online and register to join aknicks forum just to vent your frsutration amongst positive thinkers
