JYD and Sweetney are 2 and 3 in the NBA in drawing fouls per FGs.

Guess who's the worst? A whole bunch of backup PGs and yes, Kurt Thomas.

Kurt Thomas is ostensibly a power forward, so how come he draws fouls at such a paltry rate given he is banging inside? Well, that's just it, he's not. Jump shots account for over 91% of his attempts, and virtually all mid-range two's at that.

Sigh. Start Sweetney. Please. Even if it means benching Nazr.

We need to move KT to center and start Sweetney.

Mohammed is takin any chacnes of a defensive improvement away. He is just too bad. You can't compensate for your 2 horrible defensive guards when your center is a joke on the defense as well.

The Mohammed and TT trade is lookin worse and worse every day.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I don't like having a PF who can't draw fouls, but I could live with it. Here are two real reasons to get rid of Kurt (courtesy of 82games.com).

Opposing PFs FG% when guarded by Kurt: 52%
Opposing Cs FG% when guarded by Kurt: 59%

Who is to say Sweetney's opposing FG% would not bloat to similar KT-like proportions when given more playing time and, mind you, when going up against the other teams starters.

Yes, Sweetney should get more time based purely on the fact that he is a legit low post threat- potentially better than Ewing.

Opposing PFs and Cs are both shooting much worse against JYD and Sweetney than against Kurt (the guy who's supposedly our best low post defender). You don't have to give Sweetney a huge increase in minutes. If he has trouble playing a lot of minutes, give him and JYD each 24.

consequently, the Knicks are + with only 5 guys; JYD, Ariza, Sweetney, Marbury and Houston. Houston is suprising to me, but the numbers dont lie.

this is the best of things that anyone has ever written on this board....Kurt is not a PF, HE IS A FREAKING SF....

Marb
Crawf
Kurt
Sweet
Nazr

Brewer
Penny
Ariza
JYD
vINNY

hEY everything else so far hasn't worked, why not this option for a change....Kurt can still guard the PFs/C, but Sweetney would have the opportunity to play down-low and be a starter....
Why hasn't that been used or experimented with?????? That is a hell of an idea...

Kurt plays like a freaking SF, while Sweetney has the low-post game that both Kurt and Nazr don't have. Since the organization is so big on Kurt and Nazr, why not find a way to have all thre bigs on the court together??? Besides, who says that this wouldn't work????

Yikes....KT already has trouble staying with the quicker PFs. it would be bad to see him match up against the good SFs of the league. Plus, since he only shoots outside shots, has no post game and does not crash the offensive glass the SFs would have no trouble guarding him.

KT as a small forward? Guarding the likes of TMac, Vince Carter, Sean Marion, Carmelo, LeBron. Good luck. I am sure he will stay right in front of them and stop them in their tracks.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.
