I mean Marbury best ability is to drive to the paint and hasn't really taken to many 3s this season. Houston has been out and flat. Tim Thomas has been out and flat. Sweetney lived down low. Ariza can't shoot, JYD can't shoot. Crawford is cappable but is better suited for driving floaters and mid range shots off the dribble. All opponents have to do is stack the box to stop penitation and Sweetney. And dare us to beat them from outside. There has to be some 3 point specialist available. We have a roster spot and I would cut Brewer or Sundov whoever else is at the back end of the bench and get somone who can hit a damn 3 pointer consistantly to open things up for us.

agreed...but i wouldn't cut Brewer cuz we need to hold onto our perimeter defenders...i'd rather trade or buy out Moochie & sign a shooter on a 10 day contract...someone like a Matt Bonner type in TOR or Kyle Korver type in PHI.

Those players are all on a roster somewhere

We have a free roster space. You don't need to trade or waive or buyout anyone in order to add a shooter

A shooter will not make us play better D.

I don't know if we are all watching the same games, but the Knicsk have no problem scoring. Its the defense that is just beyond terrible.

And I don't anything can be done here, when Mohammed, Marbury, Craw, are all abismal defenders, there are breakdowns all over the court, and no system can fix it. You can't plug all the holes with Ariza and KT on the D when Marbury, Craw, and Mohammed don't even attempt playin any kind of defense.

What we shoudl do is start KT at C, Sweetney at PF, Ariza at SF, and try to get by with Craw and Marbury in the backcourt, even then, both of our guards suck on defense, and we will still be bad, just not horrible.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

you idea is too good for the Knicks to even give it a try....Nazr and Kurt present huge problems for this organization.....They are both inconsistant and most of all lack the athleticism that we need to succeed....Would I like to see either of them go???? hell yeah, but it will never happen, because Kurt has done some voodoo to help this franchise from seing the real truth....

We need a three point specialist?

why? We aint that good. Craw, TT, Marbs are fine out there. That KVH dude was pretty good at it. And he could rebound and run the floor too! And his contract ends this year!

KT is a good ouside shooter.

Just cuz the suns smoked us does not mean we need to start on that type of play. Not with this team.

yeah, we can address the outside shooting issue when we have a team that needs it to make the next step. we have way more pressing issues that finding an outside shooter. let's keep adding young athletic pieces and see what we need then.

Don't blame the organization's "blindness" on Kurt. It's not his fault he is the only player on the Knicks who has ever been part of a good defensive team. It's not his fault the GMs and coaches have failed to take his contributions away from the team in favor of players with more upside. The guy just goes out there and does the things asked of him to the best of his ability. What the hell do you want him to do?

Rashad mcCants, he should be available at our spot if we are somewhere between 7-10. he is the best shooter combined with defense and athletic ability on the board at the 2G.

I agree we'll worry about getting outside shooting later. We need a center first. or make a trade that gets both

we let all of the good opportunities expired on us..We had a chance at acquiring Jimmy Jackson, but we failed. Woods, we failed....I don't know, Isiah has lost a step....He is looking for a gid deal, but that is not what we need....in the future, yes, but not right now....We can still make changes to keep ourselves competitive....I really don't understand what Isiah is trying to do right now....Kurt should be traded....

yes. we need points in the paint. Actually we need a post player on offense and defense.

we have a low post player on offense. we need a low post player on defense though. not only low post defense but shot-blocking too and preferably a guy 7ft+ not 6'8/9'' just a low post defender will not get it done imo. Not with the defense our guards play.

We need it for the reason I stated above. All im looking for is signing a guy like Courtney Alexander to a 10day contract or something to hit open 3s and make teams pay for going zone or triple teaming Sweetney to stop the entry pass. Or stacking the box to stop Marbury from penitrating. I would love Tim Thomas to come back and hit his open 3s. How many has he missed this season.

Until we we somehow land a shotblocking big we won't be a good defensive unit. We can have stretches but we don't have the personel to do it consistantly. Our best defense is when we are making shots and get confidence and momentum and a rhythem. The NBA is about scoring more than the opponent it doesn't matter how you do it but you have to find a way to do it.

You guys act as if it is so easy to land a stud big. Sorry but no big is falling in our lap until hopfully the draft or offseason. So we got to fix what we are cappable of fixing which is outside shooting.

Shotblocking and interior D is far more important to this team than outside shooting. Steph is in a slump shooting the ball right now. I agree the team needs a small forward who can shoot, but Jamal and Kurt shoot well from the outside. So does Penny. The thing that would make this team really good is shotblocking and interior defense.

And its not hard to find, you just have to be smart. Last year, the Knicks should have thrown money at Chris Andersen. This year, it should be Stephen Hunter or Stromile Swift.
