Is it ok for me to be excited about his second start? Not saying he's an all star or franchise player, just happy we have a 19 year old that can get 21/11 and 8 offensive rebounds. Sweetney also good in limited minutes and despite picking up some ticky tac fouls.

Yes we lost but I saw some good things.

Anyone else thing Jamal should be the primary handle and Marbury just play the 2 and attack the basket?

I agree. I think the Knicks' young players are much better than their veterans, which bodes well for the team's future even if it's not great for the present.

No. One good game does not make for a change. they can do it to give Steph a break from time to time. I think when allan comes back, jamal takes over when allan on the floor.

Hes the "best" point in the land! why deny him the ball!

I like jamal when he penetrates!

I think Marb runs the team better and is still a better threat. But hey, when Jamal attacks the basket and uses the mid-range, he is very hard to handle. If he would only do it more.

Oh, and Jamal has NO idea how to run a team. Marb is a little more experienced.

IF Marb gets super hot, them have Jamal handle and Marb score.

anyone notice several sequences where the ball moved beautifully? Like 4,5 or 6 passes to a wide open Nazr or Baker who would then brick a shot?

Definatly sign Steven Hunter and look to move Nazr for Swift in a sign and trade.

the ball seemed to move better when it hit Jamal tonight - not as many horrible 18 footers with 20 seconds left on the shot clock.

after tonight, definitely want Hunter.

Jamal can actually attack the basket outstandingly on those rare occasions when he wants to. This game showed why I think Jamal has much more upside than Q-Rich even if Jamal's not better than him right now. Jamal can do so many more things on offense than Q, who's just a perimeter shooter.

Camby is too old. Griffin is a time bomb, but I wouldn't mind him. We can't get Chandler.

Stromile Swift, maybe. Hunter, for the right money (aka pay him more than PHO) we can get him.

My ideal offseason would be to get Swift, Hunter and draft a guy like Warrick or Boone.

You can be as excited as you want, no matter how unwarranted it may be.

It was a high scoring up tempo game where an active player like Ariza could get easy baskets and rebounds. Getting all excited over a 20/10 in a game like that would seem a little much. Again, you don't bother to take things in context but prefer to view everything in the same light. To you a 30 point game would be the same against a team like Riley's Knicks as it would against the Paul Westhead Nuggets. But hey, go nuts about Ariza's 20/10 game.

Now let's not make it out like I'm bashing Ariza here or the game he had tonight because I'm not. He had a good statistical game but his jumpshot was still awful, he couldn't stop anybody on the defensive end and he looked lost at times in halfcourt sets (off and def). But overall he had a good game.

i agree about ariza that is why I like sweetney more. but there are players out there who do the little things ariza does to help their team. Prince and battier just to name a few and trevor is only 19, his shot will improve

I believe he's restricted, meaning Chicago would gladly match a paltry MLE for Chandler, who is basically Camby 2 at this point.

Also, just watching that team, Chandler seems to like it there and I have a feeling they'll re-sign him. I could be wrong, but I doubt they'll lose any of their top 5 young'uns this off season.

Ariza did make some nice jump shots. I also liked the way he beat Amare and Marion to the boards several times. How many 19 year old SFs can do that???

Im definitely excited about Ariza's ability. His body is very underdeveloped but his quicker reaction time helps him beat stronger, more athletic players. Imagine, a couple of years down the line, a stronger, even more athletic Ariza.

The only thing that is limiting his potential right now is that his coordination on his first step and ball-handling in general is simply lacking. His shot will improve over time, Im not so sure about his dribble penetration.

I am excited about our young guys, espcially crawford and ariza, hey 21/11 is a big deal and from a 19 year old rookie, it is huge..

I think craw should run the point more with marbs at SG....

It would be okay if Layden had drafted Ariza. THEN he'd be an awesome prospect who's only 19 and can work on all of his current weaknesses. BUT Isiah drafted this bum with a bad jumpshot. So, no you can't be excited about Ariza!

Hmm...why does that sound familiar?

Comeon isles, don't you ever get put in a good mood (in reference to something positive for this team)? Ariza had a great game. Enjoy it.

it's tough to enjoy things when you're always looking at things as half empty. that's the way he chooses to look at the knicks, so be it.

not allowing yourself to even have the slightest bit of optimism over a 19 year old 2nd round pick that has had two 20 point nights within the 5 games is borderline masachistic :)
