center. Yea, he's 6'8, but whenever he plays against bigger guys he pushes them away from the hoop. Heck, if 7'6 Yao wants to take fade away 12 footers by all means. Also Sweetney toasts bigger guys around the basket with the ball. We have seen him match up well against Curry, Yao and Deke. I saw him play Boozer very well with my own eyes. Its the quick 3/4 type players he has a hard time with.

Is he out center of the future? I'm not saying that at all, but it gets us a good way to look at him. Who do you want us throwing the ball into? Nazr or Sweetney? He doesnt get in foul trouble either. He had no problem scoring against Chander either.

100% of his offense comes from point blank and he's always at the line. If they arent coming out at him he wil take the 15 footer.

He gives us something we desperatly need right now and dont get from anyone on the team.

i think the offense can flow through sweetney RIGHT NOW. he's ready. he just needs to lose 20 lbs but a lineup of:

marbury
crawford
ariza
jyd/kurt (defense/offense)
sweetney

is the best one we have. at this point, after going 1-9, there really isn't ANY reason why he shouldn't get a ton of minutes. nazr is nazr. kurt is kurt but sweets gives us an entirely different dimension - one that makes an impact and can alter how teams play us defensively.

kt is one of the co-captains yet we're gonna let sweetney take his minutes.....nice example

Place for Sweetney now: Starting PF, playing 35min

Whoever is going to take over Lenny's position, the new coach MUST make it one of the highest priority to play Sweeteny (& Ariza) 35min.

I think the priority should be to let the players earn their spots and I think Sweets and Ariza will earn starting positions. Especially sweets.

that's an interesting suggestion.

I see a phil jackson type of coach trying this kind of stuff, don't you ?

B Wallace comes to mind ... It works for the Pistons (it worked before Sheed too) ... I doubt Sweetney is as good defensively though.

um. what?

Has anyone seen Nazr play this year? I like Sweetney and feel he should play more, but Nazr has been top 5 in the league offensive rebounding and fg% for most of the year. He's averaging 12 and 9 on 54% shooting. Sweetney is good some nights, fouls out in ten minutes other nights. He is good against teams that don't have a lot quickness, and teams that don't put a shot blocker on him. Anyone can score on Eddy Curry. If we start him, next time the Bulls will put Tyson Chandler on him, then we'll see how well he does.

I like Sweetney, and I wouldn't mind starting him this season as I want a lotto pick, but thinking about him as a center is ridiculous. Nazr is one of the few players we have with trade value, to lower Nazr's value right now is a bad move. If you start Sweetney, start him at the four NEXT to Nazr.

I just want him starting. Whether it is at PF, or a shot at C, I couldn't care.

C-Nazr
PF-Sweetney

Kurt comes in for Nazr who's always in foul trouble, Sweetney slides over to Center.

You guys are all missing the point. Sweetney is not a Center, and let's not even suggest that at this point. The young man has yet to play a full season at his natural position, and now some of you want to see him as a center...Sweet is and should be our starting PF. Kurt is not helping this team at all. His place is on the bench as a substitute. It is imperative for Herb Williams to understand that as our new coach that changes must be made before the first game. If what we have right now were working, Lenny would have been our coach still. There is nothing wrong with our backcourt, but there is plenty wrong with our frontcourt, and I know that Herb knows that. Now whether or not he has the balls to tell Kurt to take a sit is remained to be seen. He played with Kurt as teammate, and may be sympathetic towards him. However, he also has a job to do, and he can't be bias.

you're wrong he was a center in college and a damn good one. Not Othella harrington 13pts/9rebs good but 23pts/13rebs good.

If Sweetney stays this overweight for the rest of his career then he is more suited to play center because PF's are too damn quick now and days. But if he loses 20LBs which I think he will eventually especially if he starts and plays consistent minutes then he'll be fine at PF. He's be fine right now no matter where he plays because it doesn't take a lot to upgrade over KT & Nazr.

There is nothing wrong with our back court???

Crawford is shooting less then 40% and has no idea of the difference between a good and a bad shot.

Marbury is talented but under achieving. Sporadic defense bad judgement on and off the court (proclaiming yourself the best point guard is just not smart)

Houston may very well be done.

Penny is whining and not playing.

Moochie - PLEASE.

I agree with everything you said. that is why I rather this team prove that they can mature and pull together, play defense and win games before we just add pieces in the offseason. If they comtinue to not play defense and play dumb then I don't think tanking is worth it because no matter who we bring in our perimeter defense will always stink and defense starts out on the perimeter. If this continues without improvement then you might as well blow up the team instead of just adding pieces to it.
