"We all invite you onto the Chris Marcus bandwagon right now. Come next week, the bus will be very crowded … "

from:

Pay Day - 3/6/2002

Jason Collins, welcome to nursery school. In his first ever meeting with the Diesel, Collins looked very much like a little boy. Shaq was an absolute monster, dominating the game on both ends of the floor … The Nets roster was thin enough that they were forced to play Brian Scalabrine, Lucious Harris, Aaron Williams, and Donny Marshall all at the same time in the first quarter. Not gonna win like that… Congrats to Don Chaney for receiving a contract extension from the Knicks ownership. Unless the Don’s new contract includes a brilliant plan to unload all the Knicks’ absolutely awful contracts, that coaching position is a thankless and impossible job. Props to the Knicks for putting their lack of talent, lack of chemistry, and lack of effort aside for one night and showing a tremendous amount of respect for their coach in earning a victory over the Bucks. Kurt Thomas, who plays with as much heart as anyone in League, was off the hook, dropping 29 points, 20 boards, and 63 extremely frightening stares… We know one guy who never wants to see MJ in a Wizards uniform again. Taking advantage of his extended playing time, Courtney Alexander put together his second solid performance, leading the Wiz in scoring, and more importantly to a victory… Greg Anthony will be a Buck by the end of the week. The T-Pups are the only other squad in the hunt and Anthony has gotten the full court press by Ray Allen and Karl. Interesting choice of words by Allen when talking about the potential signing of Anthony. Ray Ray said: "He’s a guy who could challenge Sam." … Doc Rivers, how’s your wallet? It’s gonna be a little thinner after your words last night. After the Magic’s loss to the Pacers, Rivers went off on the officiating, calling it the "worst I has ever seen. Ever." … Also last night, Gary Payton literally talked the refs out of calling a T on him. GP, we hope you ball (and talk) forever… Reggie Miller, on the other hand, take your clutch hall of fame whining ass and sit it down for good. Your squad is proving that they are just fine without you… The Jayson Williams ordeal is not a joking matter. Finding out that former NBA players Chris Morris and Benoit Benjamin are now playing for the Harlem Globetrotters is however, hysterical. Those two clowns should be held in prison to protect the rest of the world from seeing them near a basketball… Will the Raptors ever win another game? At least one dude who passed the blame tonight was Vince. Vincanity has been taking all sorts of heat for the Raptors losing streak but Carter was dropping bombs last night, scoring 43. At the end though, it was too much Franchise. Stevie threw out a healthy line of 35, 6 boards and 7 dimes… Those Ivy leaguers are filled with smaaart kids. Knowing that the fans love the conference tournaments, the Princeton, Yale, and Penn players have mathematically and scientifically manipulated the system so they will have to play a three game playoff. In other words, they are all tied…The major conference tournaments start tonight. We are giddy with excitement… We all invite you onto the Chris Marcus bandwagon right now. Come next week, the bus will be very crowded … Dime Issue #2 is all over the newsstands. If you don’t have a copy, support the Smack Gods and pick one up … We’re out like college conferences that don’t have conference tournaments.
