Is Sweetney overated by Knick fans?

Many Knick fans feel that Sweetney can be a top pf in the league. I feel he is a good player that can be better not great. What are your feelings on Sweetney.

i dont think anyone thinks he will be a top PF meaning 20pts 10rebs per game but it's quite obvisious that he can average at keast 13 & 10 and at least top out at 15&11. I mean he averages 9pts 4rebs and 1 block in so little minutes. There's no reasonable explanation why the knicks don't give him enough playing time other than trying to increase KT's value or playing the mediocre veteran because they're afraid to take one step back and 2 steps forward.

i think most sane people aren't expecting sweetney to be our top big man. i mean he was the 9th pick not the 1st pick in the draft. The point is, if you can get a center like chandler or kwame to play next or an all star center you have one heck of a frontline. When was the last time a PF gave us 13 & 10 or 11 & 10 for that matter. It's not that hard to do. No Kurt thomas's anual 11 & 8 does not count. KT is only a starter on a team like miami or san antonio that already has a dominant center and needs someone to space the floor

15/11 is high expectations only 5 guys in the league are averaging 11 rebounds and one of them (wallace) only averages 9.6 pts.

Sweetney is a bust until he loses pounds and leaves NY and goes home to play in washington for the wizards.

Sweetney is having a little bit of a sophmore jinx this year. But I still think he is playing well. He scores a decent amount of points in his limited minutes. Whats going to hurt Sweetneys play is his height. He has great hands but he is usually playing a taller guy. He reminds me of LJ.

I would like to see him play a 10-15 game stretch where he gets 35 minutes. I think he could be a 20/10 player. He's got a nose for the ball and he's always at the line. Great hands also, and a good m2m defender. Terrible on help still and thats his trouble in a nutshell.

We probably do overrate him, but he's not a bust. Question is whether he is what he'll be -- an effective first big off the bench -- or he becomes a legit starter. I think he can be the latter, but I'm not expecting him to become an all star. More likely, a 30 mins, 13 pts., 9 rebounds guy who will have some trouble w/ big, mobile bigs, but will give other teams fits with his strength, width and quickness on the blocks.

Knowing what I know now, Shandon looks dam good compared to TT and Anfernee. Shandon was never a SG, but he at least played hard. TT plays for himself, and Anfernee is like the old biatch actress who still thinks she hot, but just old and worn looking. IF Isiah can convert Anfernee for Rose, it would help. But Rose is an ass also!

with Shandon we are 10 games under .500 with TT we are only 4 games under. Bottomline is they both stink

This is why I don't want to trade for Rose. If you can get Marshall, fine, you've admitted you're playing to win the division and win maybe one round of the playoffs. But if you can't get Marshall, let it go. Penny will be worth more next season anyway.

care to explain exactly how much more? Im not sold on the idea that Penny and TT will get us someone on the calibur of Elton Brand. And the raptors have no reason to get rid of Donyell since he's an expiring contract and only makes 5mil unless someone takes Jalen off their hands. We can also use one of the picks NJ gave them for Carter.

this is another reason I would rather lose than take on more deals. Imagine if we finished with the 11th pick and won the lottery and moved up to 3? All of the sudden a TT (expiring deal) + Sweetney + #3 pick for Elton Brand looks a little more realistic.

hmmmm that sounds very interesting

I would then have to consider if he guy available has more upside than Brand. Thank you for actually explaining it rather than just assuming we're going to get someone great for Penny/TT/Baker
