isiah need to use the expiring contracts this off season in a sign and trade deal with memphis for stromile swift. swift will never on a MLE contract because he knows his value. the biggest mistake isiah thomas did was resigning kurt thomas for 4 years instead of 2 years.

I'm not sure he's worth a lot of money. I see him as a full MLE type. He's got a low IQ. He's explosive, thats for sure and he would be a nice fit but at a bench player 20-25 minutes.

Yeah he shouldn't have signed KT.....He said that was out of respect to him. KT is playing for what he's worth anyway.....well according to the NBA market anyway.
Swift is a big talent, but would the Knicks get him from Jerry West buy trying to stick Timmy or Penny's max contract on him? Is Stromile a max player?

I think he could get some big numbers. Kinda like Bosh without the post moves. Knicks need that.

I just don't know if Memphis would do it unless Isiah took back yet another crazy contract.....and Memphis doesn't have any.

no way is he a max player... not a chance.

Maybe in the Camby range of $7-$8mm. I would however trade Nazr for him, especially if I could get Booth and Hunter. something like this:
KT for Booth
Nazr + Houston's #2 for Swift in sign and trade for 5 years 40$mm
sign Steven Hunter w/ the MLE

Then your frontcourt looks like
JYD/Ariza
Sweetney/Swift
Hunter/Booth

younger faster more athletic and bigger. Shotblockers and you run the post offense through Sweetney

I like the idea for the Swift trade. I would even offer Nazr and the rights to our first round pick (provided it isn't a lottery pick (HA!)). I believe you must wait until July 15th to sign and trade Swift, but by that time, we'll have drafted our pick and we can trade his rights before signing him. It'd be giving up a LOT, but for Stro, it'd be worth it.

Stromile is a beast, low IQ, yes, but put him with Marbury and you have someone who has the chance to be truly dominant at the four. Put him with Ariza in the front court and suddenly defense, steals and shot blocking are no longer problematic. Stro could even play alongside Sweets. They'd be small, but quick and good defenders and Stro is best suited to play with someone who posts up so he can clean up their misses. I think Stro would be the perfect fit for this team. I'm guessing this trade won't happen, but hoping he's there for the MLE.

wait a minute. if we trade naz, who will be our center? do we want stromile as our starting center? he would have to be. now, i like swift as well as the next person but lets be practical here. now if we could trade kt for him that would be nice but not going to happen. but man did he ever OOOMMMPH on yao ming.

well I will say one thing.. going small with Sweetney and Stro at PF/C isnt like going small w/ Spoon and KT. One is a pure under the basket bull who plays well against bigger players. Stro is lightning quick and would kill many of the centers in the NBA. He's an inch shorter and 20 pounds lighter than Amare (who's also a PF).

I dont have a problem with it if we have bigs on the bench. If you have Booth and Hunter like I said its not an issue. If your getting hurt on the glass you have quality size off the bench.

Fishmike, while I certainly dont always agree with you, I think this is the second time you have made a proposal that I really really like. However, if we do a sign and trade for those numbers it would make more sense to see if Kwame is available first. He is a C/PF and has a greater upside. But if that doesn't work, Then I say shoot for swift, hunter and booth.

Is dalembert a MLE player?

KT and a #1 for Stro Swift
Penny Nazr and 3 mil for Cato, DeClerq and Garrity

but at least you guys agree that stromile swift will fit on this team. plus imagine the knicks land stromile swift and kwame brown or by any chance stromile swift and eddy curry on a serious note the knicks will become a beast in the east.

Curry will only make us a worse defensive team. Chandler is the guy we need and is more available due to the fact that he is injury prone. Chicago is not trading Curry at this point
