I remember seeing something on TBS, a little graphic they put up before the 3rd quarter showing why the Knicks were so far over the salary cap and it had Larry Johnson set to make $29 million for this year and next year, ($58 million collectively), and Luc Longley receiving I think $12 million a year. Add those two contracts to the ones expiring after the 2003-2004 season of Marc Jackson, Travis Knight, and Charlie Ward, and the Knicks will have $44,592,562 in cap relief for the summer of 2004, where draft picks from the draft of 2001 will be available. Does anyone know if these numbers are correct?

I wish RealGm still had the player salaries so that we could check but I'm almost 100% sure that we are not getting that much in cap relief. I thought it'd be closer to $25 million than $45 million...

not correct. LJ is making less than $29 million over the next 2 years.

Yeah, thats what I thought originally but Barkley made some comment like thats not 29 dollars, thats 29 million for the next two years. He got a buyout, so does that mean they divide the remaining amount of his contract, maybe thats why the number is so high.

According to David Aldridge, the Knicks will have a payroll of $69.5 million in 2004...
