How could Nazr be 'our' Ben Wallace, he's having his best year ever and he's nowhere near the defender or rebounder of Wallace.
Fact of the matter is Nazr is the Knicks MOST TRADEABLE asset. He makes $5.5 million, he's expiring after next year, he's a 7 footer, and he averages 12 and 8. Keeping him around is useless, becuase if you are still under the illusion that this Knicks squad is going to win a championship, you're insane.
Kwame might be a loser, but he's capable of doing what Nazr is doing at about 5 years younger. Look at what Aguirre did with Nazr and Sweetney, get a young guy here like Swift or Kwame, both of whom aren't getting much time now, and you could have a beast, as they have a lot more potential than Sweetney and Nazr do.
It's basic trading philosophy, buy low, sell high. Nazr was acquired for basically Doleac, coming off of an injury. His value is now extremely high, sell him now and get a player who's value is low, like a Kwame or Swift. Swift has seen slightly reduced time since Fraetllo has gotten there, I'd trade him straight up for Nazr. In 20 mpg he averages 9 pts, 5 boards, and 2 blocks.
Kwame's value is extremely low, but I'll take a chance on him, possibly get a future pick or 2nd rounder thrown in, and risk that for Nazr Mohammed. Dalembert, same thing.
I'd rather take a chance on a young guy like Swift, give him 40 minutes per game and maybe see a low post guy average 18, 10, and 4 (those are his 40-min. averages) or maybe he'll fail and be a 12, 8, 2 dud (wait, those are Nazr's averages right now). I'd rather take that chance than just dwindle in mediocrity for the next few seasons.
