of course you know i am new to this forum but i am looking to make it home

i like to get a feel for who i am posting with basically who is your favorite knickerbocker on this team. that should give me an ideal

Trevor ariza is. the kid has captured my imagination. aint it funny how the knicks were stockpiled with swingmen and this ki has come out of nowhere and took starting positions, took minutes and won the hearts of many knickerbocker fans
he is young so naturally we all feel that he can and will only gt better. i would love to watch this kid grow in a knick uni

Allan houston was. i can't lie after the guy made the shot against miami and the knicks went to the finals i felt the knicks had turned a new era and allan would lead the knicks.
yeah i seen all of the houston versus sprewell threads and i was disappointed at how bad the team fell when it was all placed on the shoulder's of allan
but this is a sport and players get older and all but i guess if i had t say the one reason why allan was my favorite it was because of his cool persona and smooth jumper

Stephon Marbury is.the guy can flat out ball. if the last 30 seconds of the game is up to a 1-2 pint differential (as long as Steff Marbs aint dropping a tre bomb) then I want the rock in his hands. This guy was an instant NYK the second they announced the coney island kid was coming home.

H20He was cool, he is cool, and he always will be cool - he will be back mark my words.

It would have to be ARIZA also.

This kid brings the umph back to the Garden that we have lacked for so long. Atheletic and long with this uncanny abilty to go to where the ball is on the court, beit steals or rebounds and putback dunks ARIZA is my boy.

Who was : THE BIG L!

When we needed quick points and wanted to put fear on oppossing teams defense LJ was the guy. He could shoot from the 3pt line and mix it up with the best of them down low and got much respect from oppossing teams.

I remember seeing a exhibition game live sitting right behind the basket against the Spurs and LJ was going against Duncan, I was amazed at how quick he was on the baseline with his quick pivots and spinning post moves that only he could do. He worked Duncan that game and the knicks won.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Trevor Ariza is my favorite current Knick. He and JYD are the only Knicks that actually give an effort EVERY night, but I like Ariza better simply because his upside is greater and he is a homegrown product.

My favorite Knick during the Layden era was Houston, and before that Ewing.

Now JYD.
Then Starks.

For the same reason. They are good players (if not perenial all-stars) that give 110% EVERY night.

Marbury is. Steph's on and off, for sure, but I'll take his on by far over any other current Knick's. WHen he takes over a game it's breathtaking. i love the way he takes it to the hole over ANYBODY, 7-foot, 8-foot, 300-lb., 400-lb., man it's unbelievable what he pulls off, and ususally in clutch, must-have-it situations.

Clyde and Mark Jax were. i guess I'm a PG guy at heart. CLyde was so freaking good that I feel sorry for people that didn't get to watch this guy real-time. I have him down as the 5th or 6th best guard to have EVER played in the NBA. Not only superlative in every single aspect of the game but SO COOL to boot.

Mark Jax - i'm talking about his rookie year only. What a storm - and unexpected too. I don't think anyone thought he would be THAT good his rookie year. Totally lifted the team, was the perfect pass-first PG that year, flashy, high-energy. Boy was that a fun ride.

I cant really pick one guy I loved more than others... I've had a few favorites along the way. I will tell you what my favorite team was though:
pg Mark JAckson
sg Gerald Wilkins
sf Xavier McDaniel
pf Oakley
c Ewing
Thats the team that made me a Knick fan for life.

Guys I couldnt stand: Rolando Blackman, Doug Christie, Scott Layden, Charles Smith, Shanvis Eisleyspoon

Im not overly attached to anyone on this current team, but I like watching Marbury/Crawford/Ariza on the floor together.

C Reed
F DeBusschere
F Bradley
G Frazier
G Barnett/Monroe

Jackson (as in Zen Master)
Russell (Cazzie)
Riordan
Memminger
Lucas (towards end)

this is the team that made me a Knicks fan for life... and Fishmike, your team couldn't tie (my teams) shoes.

... yeah Silverfuel, they were a sight to behold. One of the advantages of approaching middle age.

Occasionally, ESPN classics have a few of their classic games... like the imfamous Game 7 against heavily favored Lakers (Chamberlain, West, Baylor) when Reed limped out on the court (are you listening J. Abraham) hit his forst two jumpers... and Clyde took over for Knicks Championship with one of the great performances of all time. To this day, 5 million New Yorker's say they were at that game.

Jackson was an amazing defensive player... great sixth or seventh man. What I remember the most about him was he was arguably the best player in NBA history at guarding the player trying to inbound the ball. Jackson was all arms and legs. Keep in mind, my beloved Knicks team of the early 70's was the smartest team to ever play the game. In my opinion, some oldtime Celtics fans might disagree.

think of a combination of mutombos's elbows - jackson was seriously dangerous with swinging around and accidently clobbering people

and jyd's manic hustle - but of course much less athletically-gifted

and luke walton's court smarts and unselfishness

plus he had a great big shock of wild curly hair (anderson varejo!) and a real hippie persona - spent the off-seasons hitchhiking around europe with a backback.

... and of course, I couldn't talk about the glory Knicks without paying hommage to the greatest of all time... Marv Albert announcing the games on the radio... Marv in his glory...., it was as if you were there.

i always thought that phil was more of a coach on the floor than he was a basketball player but i guess when you have a team filled with HOF's then he added something to that

thanks, i saw some film once on ESPN of the knicks versus the lakers in a series with phil but i only remember him boxing out and grabbing a rebound or two

reminded me of a poor mans' kurt rambis
