I don't want to be Mr. I-told-you-so when next summer comes along , with no trade bait to couple with the expiring salaries of Penny and TT, that we end up with nothing.

At least, with two late picks, we could try and trade up to land another choice between 15-20.

That would give us two mid-first round picks. We could couple those picks in a trade with Penny or TT, or we could trade those two picks for an even higher pick, say the 5th pick. Or we could select two good players.

Without draft picks, no one is going to give us "ANYTHING GOOD"for Penny or TT.

It depends on what you're getting, that will determine what you have to give up. I agree with you playa that in order to get one the promising young bigs who will be RFAs in a sign and trade (Kwame, Curry, Chandler, Dalembert) will probably cost Sweetney or Ariza, the expiring deal(s), and the rights to whoever Knicks draft, plus takig one ore more bad contracts back. The same could be said for an established star (such as Webber). But sometimes deals are made just for cash reasons.

Look at the 2 recent trades made using expiring deals by this team. In order to get Marbury, we had to give expiring deals, picks, and prospects, while taking on a bad contract in Penny.

For the Crawford trade, all we gave was expiring deals for marginal players, and had to take on one bad contract(JYD)for a guy who happens to be a good role payer on this team. From this perspective, Chicago did give us something good (albiet a player they didn't want anymore) without us giving a draft pick in return.

A deal like that could be made with Penny/TT in the offseason or more likely at the deadline next season.

WOW!! I am shocked!?! I never thought playa would be a fake. So not only is playa2 a attention seeking loser but he cannot even think for himself and copies other peoples ideas to get more attention for himself!! Actually I think we have more assets THIS offseason than last. We have our #1 to use in a draft day trade or we can use the rights to the player before we sign him. We have TT/Penny's large expiring contracts, but also have Moochie/Baker/Nazr's more modest contracts to package as well. He have Houston's #2 pick and of course we always have cash to get late picks or make trades with stingy clubs where a few mill actually impacts their organizations. The only impact it has on us is it means Spike and Tom Brokaw have to pay $2000 a game instead of $1850
