trying to trade for wally, ship KT, then start jerome at the 4.

SO we'd have :

3 : wally/ ariza (and TT)
4 : JYD / sweet
5 : Nazr / baker

thoughts ?

don't like it personally...i'd much rather trade KT for a SF like a Matt Harpring instead...he will give you better toughness at the 3 spot & better defense...Wally is a shooter, & we already have plenty of those...we can't give up 1 of our best rebounders unless we're adding to another area of weakness on the team...we need defenders.

hmm... Ive always like Harpring, and Ive seen him live a few times as well. Big guy, plays hard, and Sloan has been complaining about his big men's D. How much does Matt make? does it work?

Harpring makes $4,545,000 this year & $4,545,000 next year, so you'd have to include another contract to make it work since KT's contract has that trade kicker.

The best deal i think we could do right now is try to send Tim Thomas and Kurt Thomas to Sacramento for Chris Webber. Sac is looking to shake things up and i think Webber is on the way out. KT gives them good toughness at the 4 and TT gives them a quality scorer with size now, plus a trade asset and some flexibility financially in the future as they continue to shake things up a bit. This allows us to start JYD at the 3 and Ariza to see big minutes behind him, plus take over as a starter whenever he's ready whether it's next year or even further down the road. New York will finally have a legit post player and this also benefits Mohammed who will have less pressure on him in the post and can grab offensive rebounds all day with all the pressure going towards Webber.

interesting. I wonder if Sac would jump at the chance to move his contract. Geoff is smart, he doesnt want to give up guys for nothing but your talking about saving $45mm. Money talks and they havent won w/ CWebb. Obviously its a talent downgrade but they can look to funnel some of those savings back into the team

Isiah is killing himself looking for a big man. Trust this, the first man on his list is Webbbbbbbbb. Don;t be surprise if Jalen is part a mega deal that involves Webb to N.Y.

Talentwise I do that in a heartbeat.....unfortunately, the fact that Webber has a serious injury history would make me balk.....even though he has been healthy so far....I wonder if there is a way to worki Allan into this deal....

not possible. other than webber they have no bad contracts.

plus I'd rather save houston and penny's contracts for trades or expirations later on

you all know i'd love to have CWebb on this team...he'd be the PERFECT fit for this team because you can run the pick & roll through him on the high post & allow Marbury to be more of a scorer...the injury issue is a big risk, but i'm willing to take it if all we have to give up is KT & TT.

We would probably have to add in a pick or Sweetney or Ariza though for Webber. Harpring would be great but adding Harpring only pushes Ariza furhter on the bench. Or you have TT making 13mil doing absolutly nothing since he doesn't rebound enough to play PF. And we already have Penny doing that for 14.6mil.

Or deal of TT & Norris for Ruben Patterson & NVE. Patterson is all hustle and he doesn't need big mins. JYD-Ariza-Patterson would reck havoc. NVE would give us an upgrade at backup PG and he can also play SG. He plays no defense but can be a zone buster and is very clutch. Pattersons contract runs threw 06 while TT & Norris contracts run threw 05 which is y they could consider it plus it moves Telfair up the depth chart at PG.

If we trade for Webber with KT and TT we should take Ostertag, he is huge, and can at least body Shaq. Mohammed is like a toothpick next to Shaq.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
