If Orlando is doing this it's a mistake because Cat is playing great for them plus Stevie Franchise loves him plus Christie brings big baggage with him in the form of that nutjob wife.

Its a done deal

While I agree that Doug will be a better fit for Orlando, I still question why they did this deal without getting at least a pick thrown in there as well. This is a type of move you make if you are looking to win it all this season (which the Magic cannot do this season obviously). I just don't understand why you give up a younger and more talented player for an aging veteran that will probably help you win more games this season, but most likely won't be as beneficial as Mobley would have been to the franchise in the long term. Again, if this team was a legit contender and was making this deal to further improve their shot at a title, I wouldn't question this deal that much, however, I don't see the purpose of doing this deal with the team they have right now. Good deal for the Kings.

"we needed to use our depth at shooting guard to fill the areas in which we're deficient"

I don't get that. I'm still thinking about it. You traded a SG and a F/C for a SG. What?

in other words they had enough scorers but no defense. Christie will help them become a more complete team.

But the problem is at age 35, he's an aging guy who provides 10 ppg and more of a REPUTATION of defense than actual defense. Christie is not the top level defender he once was imo. The magic aren't contending for a title this year and therefore they didn't need to trade for a guy like 8 years older or so.

Wow...simply wow. I guess I can understand what Orlando was trying to do, but horrible move IMO.
I already view Mobley as the better player right now. He can still get better where as Christie is 35 (as was just pointed out)and isn't improving.

i think it's a good trade for both teams...i think SAC did it to get younger, & ORL did it to get better D at the position along w/a more experienced veteran leader to help the young guys grow & learn what it takes to play in postseason games.

pretty decent trade for both teams imho...Christie's versatility will help that Magic team alot, & provide some good insurance in case Grant Hill reinjures himself.

It is an excellent deal for both teams. Christie is definitely going to help Orlando in the defensive side of the house, because they don't need anymore scorring. On the other hand, Sacramento is really showing that they are too in a rebuilding mode. Could Webb be the next to go? After all, he was Christie's biggest supporter...

It's a good trade for the KNICKS because the Knicks could end up facing the Magic in the first round, and this trade just made the Magic much easier to beat

i agree w/that...ORL's biggest need was defense...they are amongst the league leaders in points scored per game, as well as points allowed per game...Christie will help to balance that out & provide a stopper they can assign to guard the other team's best scoring G's or SF's...

for SAC, the loss of Bobby Jackson really hurt them, so i imagine they were looking for another perimeter player to provide a scoring spark...Cuttino Mobley will be a perfect fit for their needs as well...& w/the emergence of their rookie G's Evans & Martin, they will be able to fill the defensive role vacated by Christie.

good trade for both teams that helps them both improve in areas of weakness.

"this trade just made the Magic much easier to beat." I just don't see that Bonn, I like this a lot for the Magic.

Francis and Mobley have been playing in the same backcourt for how many years? Now, Christie is there to add defense (and height, he's how many inches taller than Mobley?) and veteran leadership, a guy who's played in some real significant games.

I like this move A LOT for the Magic. They add a veteran who's been in big situations, him and Hill on the wings is a real experienced duo.

weird that some of you guys dont like that trade, i mean, mobley was only one more scorer, christie is a complete player, who is battle tested. that should help.

IMO, they're trying to make a run to help francis and howard mature, like we tried last yr.

Maybe they plan on giving more time to deshawn stevenson.
Or they wanna run with Jameer at the 1 and Francis at the 2 with christie at the 3. I don't know, but Orlando has lost a lot of games so I guess they felt a change was necassary.

Orlando probaly didn't want to deal with paying Mobley after his contract runs out after this season and at the same time you can never have to many defensive minded swingmen on your roster with Grant Hill and Steve Francis on your roster.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

His wife can drop double-double every nite!

Cat and Stevie are smallish guards, doug is about 6-6, and defensive minded.

Orlando is not winning with those two. Cat is a hell of a player, but its a chemistry thing.

Steve took the departure of his backcourt partner hard.

``I can't put it into words,'' he said. ``Playing with a guy, living with a guy, just knowing that every day when I wake up that's something I can count on, that I'm going to be in practice or in a game with Cuttino.

Him not being here is going to be tough for me. I don't know what I'm going to wake up for.

They messed up something that started so good, man, said Francis, an All-Star the past three seasons.

Boy if I didn't know better, you would think they had something personal going on between Francis and Mobley.
