no way....

Isiah's strongest support of Wilkens came when he said, "Every time we lose a game, it's not the coach's fault. The players have some responsibility also. I have no issue with what he's done."

The title just like the quote should say, "It's not ALL lenny's fault". Look at the talent and look at the injuries. It really isnt ALL lenny's fault.

Actually, it's more Isiah's and Marbury's faults than Lenny's.

it's not all his fault, but he does have SOME responsibility in this team's lack of intensity & focus over the first half of the season...to completely admonish him of all guilt in the team's underachievement is just as naive & short sighted as laying all of the blame on him for it.

Lenny bares 60% of the fault. It is his responsibility to have proper subs in the game at time when we need it the most. It is job to motivate his players to play defense. It is his duty to have the appropriate starting five on the court. When was the last time that he came out and assumed responsibility for anything??? never. Marb has, Crawf has, even Isiah has, but never Lenny

no.. I love this move from Isiah. The NBA culture right now is that its such a players league its not even funny. Isiah is sending a good message to the players that the coach wont be scapegoated for losses. Has Lenny made mistakes? Of course.. every coach does. Is Lenny a bad fit chemistry wise? Maybe.. who knows but it really irks me when coaches lose jobs because players quit on them.

For 4 years or however long I listened to Layden call his team great, and say "we love our team." To me thats sending the players a pretty clear message, the losing isnt your fault.

60% huh? So a better coach would have this team with the same number on wins as the Sonics then?

There another side to this and I heard this from an Anti-Lenny guy at work. What if Isiah doesnt want to get rid of Lenny because he handpicked him? He might be saying "its not all Lenny's fault" but what he might mean is, "uh oh, I gotta back Lenny up cause I picked him!"

it all comes down to the team and the roster. Isiah knows what he's got. Injuries aside we arent tearing up the East with KT and Nazr as our starters. I'm thrilled w/ Nazr's production and he gives a 100% every night and he's level headed, but he's not an impact player. We have been through this 100 times.

This offseason is ISiah's defining time. He put a motor in place with Marbury. He needs to either get that 2nd stud to play with him, or enough good players that fit together to make Marbury and impact.

How 'bout Tim Thomas and (until yesterday) no 100M Houston.

Who's to blame? Isiah??? Taking us out of the deep abyss we were in and bringing us to respectability?

To hear Isiah get blamed by people on this site is a true example of ignorance.

last year:
16 points, 5 rebs, 31 minutes, 45% FGs, 40% 3 FGs
this year:
10 points, 3.5 rebs, 27 minutes, 40% FGs, 35% 3 FGs

And its not even the production, its the impact. Last year TT was i the open court, he was attacking, he was making things happen and forcing the other team to guard him.

I know he's had a rough year and I actually understand how that affects your ability to perform. I've been there, it just does. But thats been our biggest problem in a nutshell.

If TT was playing like he was last year we are easily 20-14 (3 game difference)

I honestly think people that blame Isiah forget where the team was a year ago before he got here. These are the SAME people that say, lets break it down and build from scratch. They say that New York will be patient and wait through a rebuilding phase but they show they cannot even deal with losing in a semi-rebuilding phase.

The back court is in place and TT and Penny's contracts will bring us some front court help. If Sweetney pans out, we are in good shape next year and in great shape the year after.
