As much as I hate the Nets, by end of the season, their records will be much better than ours if certain adjuments are not made...Their young coach has outcoached Lenny already so far this season and he will continue to do so. With the addition of Carter, once he assumes his role as the star of the Nets, the league better watchout. Defensively they will come together unlike our Knicks, and we already know that Kidd knows how to make great decisions with the ball.

The good thing is that we have one of the best PG in the history of the game running the show in Isiah. I hope that very soon, he will give us a nice assist. I am hoping for either Webber, Curry, as our big man; or JJ or Scerbiak as SF, and finally Aguirre as our headcoach by mid-season. After all, Frank took over the Nets around mid-season last year and they were sucessful, we could try that same recipe and see if it works.......

Raptors criticize Carter after he acknowledges he didn't give it his all

January 7, 2005
TORONTO (AP) -- Vince Carter's former teammates were dismayed Friday after hearing him admit he didn't always try his hardest when he played for the Toronto Raptors.

In an interview broadcast Thursday on TNT, network analyst John Thompson asked Carter if he pushed himself as hard as he should have in Toronto.

``In years past, no,'' said Carter, acquired by the New Jersey Nets on Dec 17. ``I was fortunate to have the talent ... you get spoiled when you're able to do a lot of things. You see that you don't have to work at it.

``Now, with the all the injuries, I have to work harder. I'm a little hungrier. Getting a fresh start has made me want to attack the basket.

Now for all you dummies who thought he was washed up , you didn't have a clue. He dogged it while in Toronto, but now in Jersey he's all ball...Kidd and Jefferson won't let him slack in NJ.

NOW WHEN HE STARTS DOMINATING GAMES ON A REGULAR BASIS LIKE THE OLD VC, JC will be still be trying to find his way as a undiscipline chucker.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

If Vince can put his mind into the game and prepare himself like the best of the best, get in the gym and improve his mussles fiber, he will finally be the man that we all think that he can be... At his age, he needs to hire a chef to cook his healthy meal, hire a trainer to help him improve his body and leave all the rest for his talent to handle....He has something that one of our players doesn't have (TT), the desire to be great. If TT could ever master that, no once could stop him.

Believe it or not, the Nets will be our problem very soon. that is why it is highly important to talk about them now. Our deficiencies must be addressed because believe it or not, the Nets have and will continue to find ways to improve their roster. Meanwhile, our Knicks are on a stand still. Get rid of a couple people, especially the head-coach and clean out the SF/PF position, and we will have great hope again. Until I see that happens, there is not need to even talk Knicks.

we are not in a position to build our roster to match up against the nets. and if what you said is the case, then please go to the nets board and talk about vince there.

You must have forgot who the GM of this team is! Isiah is not satisfied with what we have right now. Watch him make a real move for a big man by mid-season. I just wish that he would stop flirting with Scerbiak and pursue an easier and cheaper guy like JJ...

Vince is not a true leader. He got Kidd now to mentor him and show him. vince just grew up before our eyes.

Sometimes things come fast to these guys. His youth, arrogance, and lack of leadership on that club did not help him. It happens.

You are right about that. Marburry had to go through the same learning process. It is very hard as a young man in this league with all that fame and no mentor around to teach you. It is one thing to have all of that and fail to use it, but that wasn't the case for a lot of guys. My man Carmelo is going through that same growing pain, but he is lucky to have Kiki and Dantley around to help him....

I am so sick of talking about Wince. But Lenny could definitely learn a thing or to from Franks. Even without J Kidd, they play good team D and play hard. WTF?!?!?!?

Lenny is out of it....He can no longer coach..it takes a lot of energy to preach defense and he doesn't have that.

I am not worried about the Nets taking the division. However, I am worried about the Celtics, or the Sixers (Who are only 1 game out with their loss last night).
I am glad we didn't get Carter. He is nothing but trouble. The thought of adding another player who purposely slacks off just bugs me. He has been playing well since he's been trying, but it's only a matter of time before he goes down again. Teams they have beaten with Carter playing: Us (horrible as you all know), Chicago, and Golden State. Maybe we should just give them the division.

not being a jerk. i think we all know you're feelings about vince. he's now with the nets. why do you still keep bringing him up on this board 2-3 weeks after the deal has been done already. ok, so what if the nets are in our division. i understand you're upset we don't have vince. he's a good player but get over it already. stop bringing up his name in the "i told you so" manner b/c that's what it comes off as. and please, if you're gonna makes posts, don't use the word "dummies" in it. that does nothing more than try to incite nasty responses.

The reason I used the word dummies is because some of you go by what one person says about a player and jump on the freakin bandwagon withoput knowing "JACK" about the situation.

I see all the Raptors games man and I knew how bad VC wanted out of Toronto.

What some of you never talked about(because you didn't know) was how bad the Organization is in Toronto and how they don't desire to win even with a superstar, well I understood all of that and as (GREG ANTHONY) said on espn he knows why VC did what he did and did not fault him.

So you keep with the thread and we will be alright.

Knicks talk has been about guys making excuses about obvious problems, man I'm a realist i'm not gonna sit up here and dream up foolish ideas , we messsed up when we went guard happy instead of big man happy period.

I agree with you Playa that it must have been terrible playing up in Canada with a terrible franchise like the Raptors but thats still no excuse to not play your hardest every night, he is a professional getting paid millions of dollars and he should have some pride. No matter how much I hated the organization I played for I would still give it 110% every night

NYK3 I understand your point about VC being a professional and playing his hardest at all times.

My question is why don't we hold owners accountable to keep their teams respectable(competitive) year after year, especially when a great player is on their roster.

We don't and if a player really wants to win and is stuck on a pathetic franchise, they might go out of character to be traded from that franchise ala Latrell Sprewell coming to NY .

now its the owner's fault? If I am an owner I'm wondering how I'm supposed to keep my team competitive when my star making $15mm a year isnt playing hard and admits to not playing hard.

Thats new levels of insane.

Raptors wanted draft picks or our prospects as well as cap relief for Carter. Even if he can return to superstar form it doesn't gurantee he will stay healthy right now he is injury prone. So as a good gm you make them either take the deal you want or you don't make the trade since his value was very low. Why would we trade Crawford, Tim Thomas & KT or JYD or Sweetney for Carter, Rose, and cap filler when the best offer they got was Mourning, E.Williams, A.Williams and 2 picks.

If both teams were to get and stay healthy. There is no way the Nets end with a better record than us this season.
