I am tired of hearing these distortions of the facts that people say, the KVH trade was worth it because of Mohammed.
The trade was NOT Nazr for KVH.
The trade was: NY traded Keith Van Horn to Milwaukee. NY traded Michael Doleac and a 2005 2nd-round pick to Atlanta. NY acquired Tim Thomas from Milwaukee. NY acquired Nazr Mohammed from Atlanta.
Atlanta acquired Doleac and 2005 2nd-round pick from the Knicks. Atlanta acquired Joel Przybilla from Milwaukee.
So Atlanta traded Mohammed for Doleac, Przybilla, and a second round pick.
At that point, Przybilla, in his fourth year, had appeared in only five games for the Bucks this season, scoring one point. Has career 2 PPG/4 RPG averages. In other words, he's a bag of peanuts.
So while technically, yes, it was a three way deal, you can essentially look at this deal as 2 separate deals. We definitely could have supplied an equivalent of Przybilla to Atlanta to do that deal on its own. So as far as I'm concerned it was: 1) KVH for TT 2) Doleac, 2nd round pick, and a bag of peanuts for Mohammed.
And while I agree that virtual trade #2 was a bargain, I will judge trade #1 separately, and so far its been a complete bust. I don't mean to be living in the past, just wanted to set the record straight. I'll give credit where credit is due, but I'm not going to grant free passes on distorted facts.
Imagine an alternate present: Mohammed/KT KVH/Sweetney JYD/Ariza/Penny Houston/Crawford/Penny Marbs/Crawford/Penny
Not only do the stats tell part of the story: (2004: KVH 17/8 vs. TT 10/3.5) but KVH was playing well with Marbs, had a presence on the court while here in NY, and hit clutch shots for us. TT has YET to find a roll on this team.
So when we discuss the(se) trade(s) let's try to keep it real.
