back on the IR. I knew it once I read a couple of weeks ago that he couldnt run despite the time off. When you are 34 with hamstring problems likely caused by other leg compensation issues you are done. hes not coming back, I wouldnt count on him--actually I didnt even when we traded for him--i counted him as excess $$$$$ over Eisley contract. He did surprise me with some good play last year and came into camp in nice shape, but father time was not on his side.

thats the whole thing with having so many older players--we need contingency plans to continue to get RID of them.

Look at Pheonix--yougest team in the league with best record. The league has been changing since the draft got younger. I would say a good age to get rid of anyone now is 33-34 max. Its proven in NBA history.

Good.

We don't need as it is. All he is, is an expiring deal.

If he retires, even better, we get an exemption like the one we got for LJ.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Knicks Place Hardaway on Injured List

NEW YORK, January 5, 2005 - New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that guard/forward Anfernee Hardaway has been placed on the Injured List with a strained right hamstring.

Hardaway, 6-7, 215-pounds, is averaging 5.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 22.0 minutes in 16 bench appearances this season. The 11-year NBA veteran had missed 14 games from Dec. 4-29 due to the injury.

The active roster is now at 11, with three on the Injured List.

All we need him for is his expiring contract at the end of the season. For that purpose, he is far from done.

I seriously don't understand what the f Penny was doing playing the last couple of games. 1 week prior he could not run cause of a bad hammy and PRESTO he is playing games with next to zero practices?!? Makes ZERO sense.

The guy just should stop and heal 100%. It's almost an embarrasment to him to be out there. I do remember a couple of preseason games where he looked like a super savvy off-the-bench player type, but lately he has looked like a grandpa with a cane.

Wow, I was still in school when penny was in college. I remember distinctly that he was the BEST college player I had ever seen (don't watch too much college ball, but still...). Ouch.

In fact, he is not done until he is DONE. Expires after next year.

I can't beleive it took the Knicks that long to figure out that Penny was not able to play. All the fans knew 1 minute into his first game back.

Right, but it will have trade value after this season.

maybe we just let penny's deal just expire. $14 mil is alot of money. that means we'll have to take back one or more NASTY deals in return. that's tough.

you let him walk, save the $$$.

and use tim's expiring deal, vin, nazr, moochie to get something done. even letting tim walk isn't that bad a move.

so you can use vin + nazr + moochie, which is around $11 mil.

I agree. I think We let TT and Penny walk and let Ariza play hard in place of TT. When Allan wasteofspace Houston's deal is about to expire, then we trade for a real marquee guy.

than if that is the case, we have to definitely can Lenny for a much more aggressive coach.... If we are not going to trade TT and others, trade the coach.

No we just cant right now.

We need help, and we can get it through the expiring contracts.

We'll be able to let houston go, but cant wait one more year without help downlow.

If Penny misses the rest of the year his deal will get paid by insurance (or at least like 80%). It would be huge if he decided to retire if he misses the year. Then his contract essentially becomes a trade exception like Terrell Brandon. You can trade his last year but because he's retired the team only pays like 20%. Nice piece.
