Keeping Kurt not crazy for Knicks

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/266873p-228604c.html

So much of what the Knicks are about has centered on their three guards. The addition of Jamal Crawford, Allan Houston's comeback from a nine-month layoff and Marbury's strong play have all overshadowed the accomplishments of Thomas and starting center Nazr Mohammed. Even backup Jerome Williams, he of the barking dog entrance, has gotten more attention than the two players who do most of the dirty work.

Kurt has been big for us. We wouldn't be close to where we are now with out him, but I still would trade him if we can get a young big with a promising upside. Unfortunately, the other team would have to be in a desperate, win now situation.

Trade Kurt if you can get a young player with more upside. Opposing PFs are still shooting 54% against Kurt and he's giving up a lot of points. He's a nice role player, but he's well below average for a starting PF. If you can improve the team in the long-run, you definitely trade Kurt. This team will still make the playoffs with JYD and Sweetney at PF.

sure- if you can trade Kurt for the right player(s), you do it.

But, for whatever kurt's weakness's (slow, unathletic, can't jump, etc.), I think his strengths make up for it in may ways- we would do a lot worse than Kurt.

You keep Kurt but if a pretty good trade comes up you trade him knowing that Michael Sweetney is going to need more minutes down the line to develop and that Kurt has been getting abused by other PF's at times. An ideal scenario would be to involve Kurt in a deal for a player like Dalembert or Kwame. However, there are other situations in which it would also be good to trade Kurt.

Dear Cr8zy Eyes,

I know I have not always respected you. When you proclaimed you were the scoring champion at TCU I laughed. When you foul early and often in games I get pissed at you. When you lay more bricks then a mason I want to cover my eyes and cry.

However, over the past 2 seasons I have grown to respect you as a member of this team. You are one of the few players who truly exemplifies what a New York Knick is...you may not be the best PF we ever had, but you are no Charles Smith either. Like H20 you are one of the few remaining faces from the past that remind me of the glory days and lately I am glad to see you on the court.

You may not be the strongest, you may not be the most skilled, but when you can knock down that 15 footer with ease and grab a couple rebounds I am glad you havent been traded and wouldnt mind seeing you around for a few more years.

Of course, that is as long as a trade package doesnt come along that would bring us a big time, 7'0 nasty baller, who could dunk all over you, swat away your 15 footers with ease, crash the boards like a madman, and bring us a championship.

Happy New Year Kurt

Opposing PFs are also shooting 54% against him!

i like kurty. i've always liked him, but...
1.he's getting older and that only means he'll get slower.
2.he does'nt fit this team's character anymore.
he could really help a team out big time like the heat, the wolves, the nets, ect. we on the other hand have enough garbage players. we need a shotblocking athletic pf.

Move KT with Nazr if possible for a super good center. A stromile swift mb. Then Sweetney steps in as the #1 PF, JYD backup, and then really the gap is with having a backup center. But that is kinda a prob now.

Ok now you're crazy. Stromile Swift and super good center should never be mentioned in the same post or thread even. And we would be foolish to give memphis so much for him.

you have no idea how good Swift would be on this team. Instead of KT shooting 15 footers it would be Swift looking to dunk on someone.

If I can turn Nazr/KT/expiring contracts, the MLE and or this years #1 into some combo of any of these 3 players we are really on our way to something good:
Swift, Steven Hunter, Dalembert, Curry, Chandler, Kwame Brown and Dan Gadzurich.

We would not or should not need to give that much for steven hunter. He hasn't really shown enought to warrant two frontcourt starters.

Yeah and then we could refer to our frontcourt as

Swiftney
