someone will feel the minutes crunch and i think ariza is playing too well to be the one. i like him at the backup SG or SF. but who plays the backup PG, especially with crawford coming back?

length, experience and offense, you go with penny. i'm assuming craw will also get to guard the other team's PG so penny can take their SG. moochie has been playing well thou.

Moochie played a little better with little being the definitive word (made a few shots) but, he reminds me too much of Howard Eisley. Pulls up to quickly on the dribble and doesn't get the ball moving. I'd like to see him be more aggresive when he's in the game. He should at least try to penetrate and dish.

I don't like Moochie. Never did, never will, but I'll give him props for the job he's been doing lately. He's stepped up and given Steph some legitimate time to rest. I like the fact that he always gives 100% and is an ultimate team player. That said, when Penny comes back, he is a far more reliable bench player and should assume those backup PG minutes. He has also been an ultimate team player, and did nothing to warrant losing his spot in the rotation, and he is more versatile than Moochie is. So, as well as Moochie has been playing, Penny needs to take those minutes.

I am on record as ssaying that I thought Penny was capp fodder from the time of the big trade last year. His wheels are just shot!

Im sorry to see this as he has been a good soldier for us.

Im no Moochie fan, but you have to go wieth players that can stay healthy, and give 100%. Mooche does give you a few good intense minutes. He was on the floor during the Comeback at philly and played well. Ugly, but well. JYD plays ugly, but it works!

I think Isiah has an agenda for Penny and it may be you can stay if you can play at a high level, otherwise make room!

Its cold, but real, and Penny Did give it 100%! That may be why there are reports about a buy out, and possible swansong back to the Magic next year.

It does not make sense to buy out Penny. We do have a very large budget to work with, but we don't have a money tree to work with. It'd be a lot of money to swallow, too much IMO. Penny's contract can be useful as an expiring contract next year, and when he has played, he gives us a lot of intangibles at different positions. When he comes back, he ought to be ahead of Moochie in the depth chart. Like he was, before the injury.

i think Isiah would only consider a buyout out of respect for Penny & the professional he's been since he's been here...he wouldn't want to make him waste away on the bench if he could find more of a role someplace else.

that said, however, remember that Orlando is a conference rival...why do anything to help them out? i would do whatever i could to find a taker for Penny after the season is over...i don't think it behooves the Knicks at all to buy him out or to trade him for garbage players with long contracts at this point.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I agree. Plus Penny's the kind of guy whose value increases in the postseason (a la last year agsint NJ). I think he's more valuable to us then than in the regular season.

i dont think Penny will play NBA basketball again. I think he is truly done. Moochie has played well, but he is no answer.

No doubt the Knicks could use upgrades at back up 1-3 and one of 4-5

Id like to see us get a shot at Zo and perhaps Crawford can go back to plaing some 1 when he comes back. Perhaps we can get a money deal to find a 2-3 who would replace Penny with Baker's contract? Its not a desperate need, but we do have to take into account that H2) is fragile and Craw could be better served being honed as a 1-2 instead of pure 2.

What do you mean? Are you saying his hamstring injury is career ending??? He's talking about returning soon.

Normally, I would prefer Penny in that spot, but after this injury, I need to see how he plays before I make a judgement. Moochie has been playing pretty decent, and I have no problem giving him those minutes left from the 3 guard rotation.

would rather keep penny. he can also create mismatches at the 1 with his height. he has more flexibility(playing 1,2, or 3).
