The contracts of Allan Houston, Tim Thomas, Penny Hardaway, Vin Baker and Moochie Norris expire within the next 3 years NOT 5. That's 58million dollars off the cap in 3yrs. Which will have their payroll be in the $50mil range allowing them to go after 2-3 major free agents. Lebron and Yao works for me

They will also be adding other contracts. I doubt they will ever actually get UNDER the cap but they will come close. Another huge plus is that Houston contract. That contract which is killing the cap will get us or atleast can get us a realy superstar in a sign and trade. I dont want Yao but I want Lebron.

As much as you, me, every knick fan, and EVERY TEAM in the NBA wants lebron, it probably isn't hapenning. Even over 50 million, the knicks would still be over the cap which is somewhere in the 45 million range.

Just get Curry, Kwame, Delemebert, or Nene, while keeping Sweetney, Ariza, and Nazr, and this team can afford to remain over the cap, as much as it would be nice to have a date certain in the relatively near future to be able to get under it.

I really think the Knicks can get Elton Brand for TT & Penny. that would be so great. he's the best bigman who might be traded

Even if you get way under the cap, it's very hard for team's to sign a max player from another team. The player's own team can offer so much more money. That's something the league should change. It's the difference between about $140 mil and $100 mil.

Of those 3, Nene and Dalembert are the most attractive to me, anyway....

Nene and Dalembert have at least show a willingness to work...Kwame and Curry seem to be followng the path of TT...also I think that woth Steph, Allan, TT and Craw, and KT doing so well on the pick and roll a defensive minded center would be best served here...Maybe Zeke will call see if Laimbeer will come out of retirement...

that money will NEVER come off the cop because we wont just let players walk we will trade every one of those expiring contracts for a key championship piece.

the only way Lebron will ever end up on the Knicks is if he forces a trade here...i don't see that ever happening...we missed out on our chance to get him 2 years ago when some of us were calling for us to tank the season & got lambasted by others who said it was "ethically & morally wrong" to do so.

I agree that we won't EVER be under the cap because we will allways make moves. But Zeke isn't stupid. He isn't going to trade all the ending salary that he keeps getting blasted for staying in the 100million dollar stage. He will make moves that adds a star if means adding longer salary but every yr after next it will drop from like 100 to 90or80 to 70or60 untill he builds his team probably in the 50+mil range.

well, more immediately, we got tim and penny @$14mil a piece and more importantly, nazr @$5, vin & moochie @$3. smaller expiring deals are easier to move than a big one. it's tough to say who'll be available during the offseason or during the deadline next year.

maybe tim and penny just go off the books? unless there really is a guy out there that can put us over the hump, i hope isiah doesn't make a move just to make a move. all it takes is one bad season for a team or an argument with a coach and a star player can be had.
