John Starks: The Dunk (1993)It was the annual Knicks-Bulls tussle. Game 2 of the '93 Conference Finals, to be exact. And as always, it was a tight affair going into the final minute-Knicks up three-but the game was decided when Starks turned the right corner from a Patrick Ewing pick-and-roll. The cavalry arrived in the form of Horace Grant and Michael Jordan. Starks went over both Grant and Jordan with his left hand, reaching for the greats of the Garden past hanging on the rafters-Clyde, Reed, Pearl, Holzman and company-to throw down the most famous dunk in Knickerbocker lore. MJ could've hopped on HoGrant's shoulders and it wouldn't have mattered, Starks would've still flushed it for the Garden faithful.

Starks dunk will grow in stature each year!

He is revered in some circles as Knick royalty!

It was a great dunk, but Starks rise to knick Icon is still marred not just from the game 7 in 1994, but from many many times of cold shooting, busted plays, and lack intensity in his last seasons with the team. There was the golf club controversy! He promised a victory but took his clubs on the road trip so he could jump ship and play if they lost!

I am not hating on John, he had his moments, but he had some "OTHER" moments that don't quite put him in royalty. If they won in '94, then thats another story. But they did not!

IMO the most underrated dunker in the league right now is Ray Allen. Have you ever seen him throw down vicious fearless stuff while just hurling his body full-speed at the rim?

Shawn Kemp was the nastiest dunker I ever saw, including Amare. The "rain man" was simply sick. That was another team that will get lost in history because of the Jordan dynasty

Payton, Detlef, Rain Man, Ricky Pierce, McMillan, sleepy eyes Perkins, Michael Cage.. good squad

Yeah Kemp was a crazy dunker. Huge chiseled fast and amazing hops! That was a good team but they were so over ther head against Chicago. I remember jordan absolutely laughing about "the glove" trying to handle him!

as far as past dunkers, i thought tom chambers was nasty. probably the best white dunker of all-time ( no offense to anyone). kemp was nasty as well as nique. wilkens was the best dunker i have ever seen. jordan is definately second but nique was definately a human highlight film.
