The problem with dreaming up these trades is that you can't figure out what each team wants, how they value their players, your own players or if the trade is about players, contracts, cap flexibility, or just getting rid of a disgruntled player.

The Vince Carter trade really baffles the mind. I never would have assumed Toronto would make such a lousy trade. I would have figured that they do the Portland trade and get Shareef.

Houston trades Jimmy Jackson for David Wesley and some guy I never heard of. I still can't figure that one out. You just can't account for all of the unknowns.

What I do kwow is many GMs like expiring contracts and next year we will have a couple nice ones. IMO, that is the best chance we have at landing someone good while still holding on to our core and building a championship caliber team.

We should mainly be looking to acquire a really good 4 or 5.
like

Haywood (probably can't get him though)
Kwame
Curry
Chandler
NeNe
Brand
Shareef
Etan Thomas

Having said that I have a trade idea I would really like to do is this:

Kwame Brown
Anthony Peeler

for

Kurt Thomas
Jamison Brewer
and a pick

They get a sold veteran PF who makes them better right now get deeper into the playoffs. They also get a pick and a decent young point.

We get Kwame Brown and a journeyman 2 guard who is useable for us right now with Penny and Craw out.

don't see WAS making that trade...maybe if you offered Mike Sweetney (former Hoya) & Nazr instead.

how about Kwame Brown & Jarvis Hayes for Sweetney & Nazr.

C - Kwame / Baker
PF - KT / JYD
SF - TT / Ariza / Penny
SG - Houston / Hayes
PG - Marbury / Crawford / Moochie
IR - Brewer / Sundov

I would never even consider that trade. I'm not giving up nazzy & Sweets for anyone. except shaq, KG and the like.

its understandable that you dont get the moves some of these GMs make. just because you trade a superstar it doesnt mean you need one in return. the VC trade was a good move for TO. vince was holding them back, so they traded him and added strong frontcourt D. TO always had decent players, they just couldnt develop to their potential with vince in the way. i'd say the wesley trade is about even also(nochbar isnt a nobody, hes just young and doesnt get enough minutes). but i guarentee you are not getting kwame and peeler for thomas and brewer and a pick. thats absurd!

Kwame plays same positions as kurt but is way better and way younger. peeler has proven much more than brewer. just face it, if we are to move KT, it will be for a lesser player unless we add in youth. if i'm looking to go deep into the playoffs, i'd rather have kwame than kurt come off the bench. btw, what is it that brewer would do that blake already cant for washington?

yeah really...you obviously have overly high expectations for both those guys if you think they're even close to being worth an elite player in return...Jarvis Hayes has a nice jumpshot & he rebounds well for a SF/SG...Kwame Brown has tremendous upside as well...you're not going to get much better than that package for Sweetney & Nazr from anyone.

read from orlando paper that Isiah might buy out Pennys contract, and he said he would not object to finsishing in orlando.

If true, not all ending contracts will entail a return of salary, we might have to cut things a bit.

I highly doubt there's any truth to that. If Isiah doesn't plan to take back more salary in a trade, why not just let Penny play and his contract expire. Penny was a solid contributor before he went down.

yeah that doesn't make sense. Next year he will be a nice bargaining piece for a team that wants to let money off the books. Plus he has value for us right now. We can use him.

I like Nazzy where he is right now and I believe sweets will be a force in the near future. YOu don't find guys his size that agile. I only halfway want Kwame. BTW guys I was exaggerating I just didn't feel like naming the players I would take in return. But I really do not like the idea of losing both of them. The same way I wouldn't trade Sweets and Ariza together unless it was for something special.
