Isiah is the one that put a roster, of guys who don't play defense, together. If you have the impatience to really really really want to fire Lenny, then it's only justified if you want to fire Isiah.
Take in mind. I don't want to fire ANYONE. I want to make trades, so that the defense can and will improve, particularly on the interior. I want to go for bigs like Dalembert and Kwame. More so Dalembert. Chris Wilcox is another guy that I like. I don't think he's attainable, but he's a guy I'd go for.
Point is, if you are going to have patience for the roster and for Isiah, then you have to have equal patience for Lenny. It's not his fault that he has guys that don't defend. Defense is not about MOTIVATION. Any guy who plays basketball knows that.
I am not a great ball player by any standards, nor am I partiularly QUICK. But I almost always play my hardest on defense, and those are in pick up games. Meaning, I don't have a COACH to MOTIVATE ME. I almost always play good defense. And believe me, I am not even a college division 3 player. I love to play, but I am just not at that level. Meaning, if someone like me doesn't need to be motivated to play good defense, then these pro ball players, who ooze with a passion for the game, definitely shouldn't need to be motivated to play.
I put a hand up 100% of the time. If someone beats me, it's b/c they are either really explosive (Like I said, I am not that quick and I can't react as quickly to the explosive players) or if they overpowered me completely, of if they just completely played better than my good defense and totally earned it.
Either you play defense, or you don't. It's YOUR CHOICE to go out and play. You don't do it for your coach. You do it for yourself and the team. Take a GOOD defender like Chauncey Billups. Does he play defense b/c Larry Brown tells him to play defense? OF COURSE NOT. He plays it, b/c that's part of his game.
If Steph, Jamal and Timmy become good defenders, it's b/c they completely had THEMSELVES change their mindset. Not b/c LENNY or Aguire or Isiah or anyone motivated or told them to become good defenders.
