I've been chasing dide and gunswe all over the board bashing the idea of starting sweetney and I wanted to apologize...in 20 minutes he matches Kurts numbers...I just want to see what this squad can do before relegating kt to the bench.

Sleep tight fellas...we got a win tonight on the road.
all kool aid all the time.

I'm having made it clear that I want Sweetney to start now. I along with many others just wish Lenny would give him more minutes instead of hindering his development which Lenny has done the last couple of games and Sweetnet has responded big time. We need a low post option on offense soooo bad if we're going to be a good ofensive team that can play D at crucial times. Kurt and Sweetney on the floor works great on offense but not on defense. but that doesn't mean you can use that lineup effectively when the matchup is right. Like Lenny did tonight.

someone said something that i found pretty accurate (fish i think) about those guys.

Nazr and sweet brings the same kind of thing, meanning, play close to the basket, no j. KT is a very good compplement to both of them, yet by playing sweet and nazr together we may have a sort of skill overlap.

sweetney will have his ups and downs but i think you still need to give him 30+ minutes b/c he brings a different dimension to the team. whether he starts or not, he needs minutes. he'll have those nights when he'll get in foul trouble but i'd rather live through those in order to develop him.

i reallly dont think sweet has the wind to last 30 mins on the court. id be happy to see him constantly get 20 though.

watching sweets and KT run up the floor late in the 4th quarter showed why they don't run with them. Man they look silly, especially KT!

I agree; at this point, I'd like to see him get 20 to 24. Please, no more 9 minute games, Lenny

I have been saying Sweetney starting wouldnt work, because our guards cant defend dribble penetration. Last night an Isiah inspired Marbury played his ass off on D and Ariza got significant minutes at the 2 guard. What a difference it made for Sweetney, who wasnt forced to help everytime down the floor on D.

Sweetney's effectiveness is 100% dependant on our guards defense.

i agree. but there's a flip side as well. sweetney on the offense completely changes the entire dynamic of our offense and actually helps the guards, especially houston. instead of constantly relying on guard penetration and living and dying by the jumpshot, he allows us some sort of rhyme and reason. he gets to the line, he puts the other team in foul trouble and he opens up that side of the court.

it's a matter of what you want to live with. i think that when he's in the game, with that 2nd unit, the offense should be flowing through him. it stops that freakin' zone defense and it prevents us from relying on moochie running the show.

so it's one of those offense/defense type things and i'm willing to live with the growing pains b/c we all know what the ultimate goal is.
