To lay any dissapointment, blame, or inabilty for the team to have reached some of the high exectations set on either or both onto Isiah or Stephon?

Marbs has played better than any knick in the last few years, but are we so enamored with having a great player that we don't look at him objectively? Is he making those around him better? Is he making smart choices on the floor?

Isiah "miricle" was he was able to trade the untradable when nobody thought he could do it, but he has commited HUGE amounts of money to do so.

Im not hating here, but I find it incredible that these guys have teflon coating so smooth that nobody dare to even question their effectiveness.

The media does question, and fans are very quick to defend these guys. some of the beat reporters quote other GM's (without identity of course)whom are critical of the "miricle", but fans are unfazed by any dose of any thing critical, even if its a dose of reality!

Nazr, TT, Craw, and especially Lenny get a ton of the critisisims! I am blown away non of the assistants are even thought of!

My offical position is I am not dissapointed as my exptectations are lower than most. The team is consructed first with marketing in mind, winning now second, and building for the future.

I think Isiah has done a good job juggleing all three of those. I think the game plan, and player rotations are THIS gm's doing! I think Marbs of late is not executing a SMART game presence and his leadership is not strong. This just of late. He does show flashes of this, but its not coming easy to him. I am hopeful he can continue to evolve into a the leader Isiah thinks he can be.

The things we are dong well should be credited to Isiah, but there are some things also going on with this team that he should take the heat on also!

i think it's very simple when it comes to steph:

1. awesome talent
2. not a great defender
3. his teams never won

the jury is still out on him. he gets his knocks from pretty much everybody except knicks fans. he has a bad rep in the league and to "experts".

with isiah:

1. good judge of talent
2. had two choices and decided to use dolan's resources and rebuild on the fly

he made moves to improve the team but it's still way too early to fully judge him on what the long term ramifications are. every GM should be allowed 3 years for a good body of work to be judged upon.

so in essence, jury is still out on both and only time will tell if the moves worked or not.

Remember Marbs got busted for DWI in phoenix.

Anybody think he has a drinking problem(not like baker had) and shows lack of concentration or leadership at times during games.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I would say that you have sunk to a new low, but I'm sure you will just top yourself soon enough, so why bother.

Sad that creating an irritating persona on a message board is the only thing that gives meaning to some folks lives.

Its to early to call it a failure and to early to panic. There are still moves to be made and still developing to do. People say they would rather rebuild but I don't see the patience. In the situation Zeke was put in we all knew it was going to take time to get it straight. Just because he made moves quickly it doesn't change that. He added some more salary but none of it other than Marbury, Thomas, Sweetney, Crawford exceed 07 which we would have been over the cap until anyway even if we did nothing. Its not like he was put in a position with cap space and exceeding contracts and high draft picks. If that was the case then yea everything should have been turned around alot quicker.

You may say Marbury was a marketing ploy but all quality teams have a star and the Knicks didn't have one. We gave up Milos, Ward, Eisley, Dice, Lampe and 2 first rd picks for Marbury & Hardaway and tell u the truth that was a pretty cheap price. It might have been the first time that a star wasn't traded for another star. I don't think there was any other team willing to make a move like that giving up there stud. If we traded Marbury today think of the quality players we would get back which is why it was a great move because Marbury will allways have high value its not a move were we would be stuck in.

Would u guys have really rather have just let Dice, Mutombo, Harrington, Frankie, Ward, Kurt Thomas walk sit back and wait the next few yrs as Eisley, Anderson, Spoon, Houston expire in 06 & 07 so that we could finally have cap space. Suck really badly during that time and just draft hopeing to find the next Hakeem, Jordan, Shaq, Duncan, Lebron?? Both plans require time and patience. Why should the road we are taking now not get the same time and patience as the tear down and rebuild plan?? If we choose to rebuild and didn't build a quality team in a 1 yr span would the rebuilding be a failure??

That was an excellecnt post, but the question is, why is Isiah held at such a high esteem, beyond any critical comments, when he has made some mistakes, and has really yet to accomplish?

I am not saying we are not better off, just is Isiah it all?

I hear Lenny get bashed, and very few blame Isiah for the possible "panic" hiring after "chaneyGate" when Isiah fired the coach two hours before a game.

Its not that anyone thinks the Layden era was better, or wants to go back there, but at some point we must expect better than just what we had 14 mos ago.

selling point # 1--the marketing ploy was much needed not only to fill seats but to build fan confidence by promoting one of new yorks own......so with the starbury move zeke killed 2 birds with one stone.
i would have done the same, infact, i think layden had a very similar idea in the works.
selling point # 2--since scotty was already out, the power of suggestion in conveying chaney's tenure was juuust about up. there was no reason to fire chaney, he could've got the axe at the end of the season. my thoughts was zeke in total control taking full advantage of the situation leaving me disappointed with lenny as replacement, no dis respect to lenny.....stay tune
selling point # 3---lets get rid of anything that reminds us layden: s. anderson, spoon, kvh and h20 will follow with the crawford move. zeke has now completed the cycle in selling some of the public.

impressed?..........nope

clue # 1---dolan gave zeke open wallet with playoff request. zeke gave us first round bitch slapping view of elimination. if im in charge, this team goes .500 as a minimum with gut check playoff run.

with all the moves and money spent zeke has made....where is the validation?

The only move where the Knicks took back significant payroll was the Marbury move.

As for last summer, most teams added more to the long-term payroll than the Knicks did. (The Knicks' net increase was about $65 mil.) The payroll was huge before Isiah got here and is only a little bigger now.

The team is one year removed from being a consistent 30 win team. I don't know how much above .500 people expected Isiah to make this team in just a 1 year span

now, how i do understand Silvers' reaction, i'm going to try to reply to this 'comment' in a mature fashion. (not that that was imature Silver) playa, would you consider it safe to assume that maybe someone coming home from a birthday party, or an orgy if you want to look at it in a negative way as you tend to do. whatever, phoenix arizona your a black man driving an expensive car in a nice neighborhood. you may have had a couple of drinks and are now over the "legal" limit. there's no way you can really gauge your legal limit so you make a bad decision and decide to drive home. now, back to the beginning of my little poem, black guy, nice hood, blah blah, a cop takes notice and decides to pull you over. he just so happens to have an acute sence of smell....oh well, guess what playa you goin' downtown 'cause you .01 over the legal limit. plus i don't like the way you looked at me. i don't even drink, but the bottom line is it can happen to anyone. get over it! nba players have gone down for ALOT worse than having a few too many.

To say that “he is beyond critical comments” speaks more to your biases than anyone else.

I don’t see how anyone who looks at Isiah’s job objectively can be upset at his moves. Only those with an agenda can be upset. Seems some want him to fail, and then become angry when others don’t share that passion. If you’re an actual Knick fan what are we supposed to be mad at him for exactly?

What are we expecting him to accomplish in a years time? Should he have already assembled a world championship team by now? All logic be dammed.

At this time last year we were way under .500 with a roster that was the laughingstock of the league and ridiculed at every turn. Now we are over .500 and in first place with a much improved roster and a promising future …You don’t think its fair to recognize the fact that he was handed a talent roster high on payroll and low on discernable talent? Or is one year now deemed ancient history?

What are Isiah’s tangible mistakes? i.e, true mistakes that warrant criticism and put into question his G.M aptitude. The Marbury trade is looking like a steal…the Crawford trade damn sure was one…Tim Thomas has been unproductive, but his lack of production is clearly offset by Nazy who is playing at an All-Star level . Lenny Wilkins isn’t the end all be all, but he is merely a plug in. Ariza was an excellent 2nd round pick.

.To follow up on NYNY’s post, I’ve never really heard a logical explanation for why the “rebuild” types aren’t willing to give Isiah the same patience and latitude. If you subscribe to the philosophy of giving up, creating cap space and crossing your fingers in the lottery which is a multi-year process, then why isn’t Isiah afforded that same luxury in regards to patience. Your talking about the same time frame, just a different road, hence one cant criticize unless a full picture emerges. I have never heard a straight answer to that... Seems mighty hypocritical.

That’s the problem…speaking for myself, I don’t find him particularly entertaining nor funny. If you are going to be a lame gimmick poster with nothing to add --- at least be entertaining…His desperate to get attention act, to me just drags the board down and spins all discussion back to him, but other people run this site so I guess that’s their concern.

Great take Sepstar! best explaination yet.

I think for me is the emotional wave whent he team is not doing well is blame somebody. Its a very american thing to do. We demonize our enemy, and must lay blame on someone even when things go wrong. there are many posts that insist we trade when a player is not doing well. About as logical as buying stocks high and selling them Low! Not much value.

The blame game rarely gets to Isiah, but thats for some to sort out.

This team is very interesting because there is much talent and how it comes together, or not is what interests me. And if viewership is up, then I am not alone.

I am one who believes that a coach is only as good as his players. So I am definatly a supporter of the idea that it falls on the GM to build a quality team for the coach. I think its to early to judge Zeke. Even how well Marbury plays falls on Zeke in the end. I believe what he does with Tim Thomas, Hardaway, Norris, Baker's expiring contracts, the mid level, and this yrs draft picks is when the heat should be put on. And him going after a Chandler, Curry, Dalembert, Swift, Brown or another quality big man that I didn't list. Or even what he does with Houston's huge expiring contract.

He turned Eisley-Ward-Williams,Anderson-Houston,KVH,Dice-Thomas-Sweetney-Spoon-Harrington-Lampe,Mutombo-Doleac-Vranes into Marbury-Norris-Brewer, Crawford-Houston, Thomas-Ariza, Thomas-Sweetney-JYD, Muhammad-Baker-Sundov. This team we currently have has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more flexablility to make moves which makes it already a job well done. Before we were basically STUCK with Shanvis Eisleyspoon unless we gave up something of value. The talent ain't bad either comparing both teams. Now that we have flexability we can work on getting more balanced and more talent.

anyone thinking a year's time is not sufficient for change needs to look no further to detroit what rick accomplished.

every owner in the league is screaming budget and dolan gives an open check book......seems to me money is not an issue but

winning should be
