Even though Houston isnt 100%, i think clearly he can give what he gave tonight 15 points 50% shooting and we wont have such erratic play. I think it might be in the teams best interest to make Craw the 6th man for this year--and see about things next year.
No matter what, this team will have its flaws, but its is possible we may have some more consistent play, and while Houston still cant guard anyone, he does have more size and a better basketball IQ than Craw. Teams really cant post up houston, so that takes away a weapon from the opponent.

But, but, but w/o him, we are less athletic, and older.

He is a "layden" guy!

like is aid, no matter what, we will have flaws:>)
we dont really have team speed or athletiscm anyway, crawford isnt some kind of superior athlete. hes very quick, but not really that fast, he can dunk, but nothing more than 500 college players can do better. hes a shooter and a slick ballhandler who has some athletiscm.
Steve Francis and cutino are by far much more athleic than Marbury and Craw. Well see houston on the b-b

Layden guy? Houston is a resigned Grunfeld/Dolan guy. The loyalty and "promise" that was made has nothing to do with Layden. Now the dollar amount....that might be a different story.

Houston should provide us with more steady play in our starting group. With him, we can play a more methodical offense to start off the game, then turn to a high energy team off the bench.

When Crawford comes back, I think his style of play fits in with our 2nd "younger, more athletic" helter skelter group (Ariza, Sweetney, JYD)... Coming off the bench, he'd have a complete green light to shoot, though he might suffer a little bit w/ less polished teammates around him

NY's defense should improve with crawford out of the line up.

in all seriousness, Craw may be the player we should trade, so long as Penny and Allan are healthy.

we can get the most mileage out of a trade with him because he is very young and good and hasn't peaked yet, but who needs a 2 guard?

Denver does, but do they want him?

If Tim Thomas plays like he played today the Knicks can withstand the loss of Crawford.

I still don't understand why that idiot Wilkens gives Sweetney so few minutes.

you guys are incredible. craw is injured, we've lost 2 games and that player who was praised like a god a few days ago is now good for trade.

going to high then going to down.

craw is best suited for a bench role for now. talent wise, he'll may become our best player soon, but he has to grow and learn.

Well... IMHO the main reason for this is the emergence of Mohammed--- he started putting up big numbers first, and he's been playing big minutes since.

Think about it: Mohammed and Sweetney are essentially the same type of players at this stage of the game--- they rebound and can score on putbacks, and they're able to score with single coverage. The main difference is that Nazr is 6'10" and is legit center-sized--- and the fact that he's been producing pretty consistently.

As far as needs go, you can't have Mohammed and Sweetney on the floor together since they do the same thing. KT plays a different game--- he's our only big man with a legit outside touch-- and he's overall been playing well.

Not to say that there isn't more to Sweetney, but Nazr/KT have been playing very well... but his main competition for PT really is Nazr, not Kurt.

However... given the Knicks quality depth, I'm surprised that there have been so many games where the starters have pushed 40 minutes. You'd think you'd been able to get more out of Ariza/JYD/Sweetney than this.

I'm especially surprised not to see JYD get more minutes. The guy contributes when he's on the floor and gives the team more of what it needs most - agressive, intelligent defense.

You got it good for me these day to the point you cant see any sarcasim.

I have argued many a time that point to little avail. Most seem to think Layden was the demon behind Allans resigning.

In reality, the promise was made when checketts was GM, and signed by Grunfeld when Checketts was president of MSG. The amount, well, that too was prearranged.

I actually think we will get better.. at least in the short term. It looks like Timmy is finally realizing preseason is over and Houston is back.

Remember, Craw was brought in to come off the bench. He's young and has played on losing teams. What you get from young players with a lot of talent is erratic play.

well, these next 20 games will either solidify tim's fugaziness or re-define his "legacy" as a knick. if he's able to step it up with crawford gone, awesome. if not, well it's nothing new.

ariza looked GREAT yesterday. he may benefit the most out of this. he could be the matrix part 2 (on defense). i feel bad for penny but hey, he got his max deal already.

I couldn't have said it better myself. And we can bring sweetney and JYD to put back his misses and Penny to keep the ship steady while TT, H20 and Marbs are resting on the bench.
all kool aid all the time.
