As it stands, it would appear that the Knicks are no better in terms of performance than that of the Layden Era. However... I really do believe that the Knicks will ULTIMATELY achieve a greater success in the near future. Isiah seems to be moving towards the right direction giving the squad he inherited!! He no doubt has transformed the team into a younger, dynamic/more athletic group; which is what NYK fans have craved for years. People need to respect what he's done thus far and have some patience. If he's made such a dramatic change to the Knicks in 1 year, think about the potential he can bring down the road.

First off, I'd like to address the Marbury/Crawford critics. Yes, Jamal Crawford has a rather less than desirable shot selection. Yes, Stephon is not a proto-typical point guard. But through all of their shortcomings, the duo remains one of the top backcourt tandems in the league. More importantly, this backcourt is the foundation of our team. Isiah is building the the team around them and will continue to do so. Crawford WILL almost assuredly get better and Stephon is taking great strides towards earning his nickname-moniker "Starbury". In fact, I think he is likely having his best season as a pro, IMO. We really need to give them some more time before we knock there value.

Problemed areas: Obviously we have a major defensive issue. I think this is largely due to the mix of players on the floor. Steph, JC, and H20 are not stand-out one on one defensive type players... So, if Lenny Wilkens plans on having those three on the floor i'd consider having a high-energy defensive minded big out there to intimidate opposing penetrators. (I'll address this later in my NYK Wishlist) But for now, we will go with Jerome Williams. Zone Defense, has really screwed up the Knicks offensive cohesiveness.. (In fact, Zone D has screwed up the league ) However, good perimeter play usually cures all. The problem is most effective three point shooting teams have good low-post offensive production as well. Hence our problem. We need to get a player that can play with his back to the basket to open up the perimeter. I like KT on the pick and roll, I like his consistancy on the floor. But the truth is he is not right for the make-up of this team. The Knicks should consider trading him while his value is fairly high and start Sweetney. I'd deal him for Dalembert, Camby, Nene, Kwame Brown, Eddy Curry.

A more realistic trade option might be Chris Anderson.. YES Chris Anderson. Why?? Because he plays D, is like 6'11 and is a hustle player, plus he can finish down low with power dunks. I'm thinking a swap with New Orleans involving T.Thomas/Sundov for Jamal Mashburn, Rodney Rogers and Anderson could work???.
