This trade isnt for rebuilding or saving cap space. Knick honestly want Howard. Plus Howard is a healthy player. Plus Knicks get to shed a PG and get rid of some bad contracts. Knick also get a bonifide post-presence. Its a win win situation. Plus Layden is pretty confident he can get a C by the end of the day anyway. GS has 4 of them. Even if we have to give a 1st rounder for Dampier he will, or swing a 3 way for Marc Jackson. A 20 point PF doesnt come along everyday. let me think of other 20 point PF's:

Chris Webber
Antonio McDyess
Tim Duncan
Dirk Nowitski
Elton Brand
Fritz Alcindor Jr. *FUTURE KNICK GM* falcindor@hotmail.com

I would question whether Howard is a 20 point per game player anymore. Currently averageing 13 for the mavs this year. Plus there is no guarentee that he would resign for signifigantly less money. We would either end up loosing Camby for nothing, or lose the cap space if the Knicks decided to resign him. I think that Camby could fetch a little more in return, and at least get us a draft pick or younger talented guy to develop.

not that i'm into defending juwan howard but he's avg 13 on a team where hes the fourth option. nowitski, nash, finley...i don't see nellie working the offense around him.

i think the trade off of unloading ward and shanderson is a big plus. this isn't the worst trade ever. not the big name you'd want to hear but it is a big step in the right direction of clearing out the cap for the future.

I really hope cuban is as dumb as I think he is and they add Finely to the trade and the Knicks go and add either houston or spree. I doubt anything like that would happen but I need to look foward to soemthing unitll 6:00

Cuban's not dumb, look at our team and look at his, and what would be the point of finley for houston or spree? that would be another salary cap mess for us and another guard

Dallas owner Cuban is already on record as having shot down this trade rumor with Camby for Howard.

Here's Cuban's quote from the Dallas News:

Although New York is desperate to make any kind of move to improve - even losing a cornerstone such as Camby -- Cuban quickly shot down the suggestion of such a deal, citing Camby's durability. Camby is expected to miss at least two more weeks with a torn muscle in his right hip, and has never played more than 63 games of the 82-game season.
"We aren't looking to add people to the IR right now," Cuban said. Indeed, the Mavericks have enough injury woes of their own."

That pretty much says it all when other teams look at Camby as part of any trade deal. This deal is dead!
